3 7 7 <br /> Ma~:24~ 1994 <br /> <br />94-182 <br /> Letter <br /> fr~Om tke City;Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to aPproPriate $3,446,000 from the Capxtal <br />Improvements Fund for design and real estate acquisition costs <br />associated with the construction of a new I. C. Norcom High <br />School. <br /> <br /> "Now that the EPA study of the Harry Hunt site has been <br />completed, property acquisition must begin immediately to <br />maintain the proposed construction schedule. Also, funds <br />expended for the environmental investigation and preparation of <br />the Hunt asbestos removal specifications must be replaced in <br />order to provide sufficient funds for completion of the design <br />of I. C. Norcom High School. The architect's fee for basic <br />services has been modified to include the increased costs due to <br />delays caused by changing from the existing Norcom site to the <br />Harry Hunt site as well as investigation of alternate sites. <br /> <br /> An appropriation in the amount of $3,446,000 is necessary <br />to complete the design and property acquisition. A breakdown of <br />required funds is included on Attachment No. 1. Funds are <br />available in prior Capital Improvement authorizations for this <br />work. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recoE~ends appropriation of <br />$3,446,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund to complete the <br />design work and acquire the necessary property. I concur with <br />the Director of Public Works and, with your approval of this <br />item, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund is <br />$11,553,116." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt the <br />following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $3,446,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR DESIGN AND REAL ESTATE ACQUISITION COSTS <br />ASSOCIATED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW I.C. NORCOM HIGH <br />SCHOOL." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: Hawks <br /> <br />94-183 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />an ordinance to appropriate $40,000 from the Capital <br />Improvements Fund for sidewalk and curb construction. <br /> <br />of <br /> <br /> "Funds are available in FY 93-94 of the 1993-98 Capital <br />Improvement Progr~un in the amount of $40,000 for sidewalk and <br />curb construction. <br /> <br /> The Director of Public Works recommends appropriation of <br />$40,000 and also requests permission to exceed the 25% limit on <br />change orders to the existing contracts for the following two <br />contractors: B and N Contracting, Inc. and Aldo Construction <br />Corporation. <br /> <br /> I concur with the Director of Public Works and recommend <br />your approval of this item. With your approval, the balance in <br />the Capital Improvements Fund will be $11,513,116.,, <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $40,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR SIDEWALK AND CURB CONSTRUCTION.,, <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Epperson, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
