392 <br /> <br />June 14, 1994 <br /> <br /> ..AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 35 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (198~), BY AMENDING SECTION 35-65, <br />SECTION 35-187, SECTION 35-188, SECTION 35-189, SECTION <br />35-216(A), SECTION 35-217, SECTION 35-218 AND SECTION 35-219, <br />PERTAINING TO TAXATION." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> {Councilman Hawks was absent at time of vote) <br /> <br />94-212 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to amend Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, (1988), by amending Section 2-658 <br />pertaining to Administration. <br /> <br /> "The 1994 General Assembly of Virginia enacted changes to <br />the laws pertaining to certain statutes. Since these <br />requirements do not coincide with the requirements presently <br />listed in our City Code, changes to Chapter 2 of the City Code <br /> <br /> The proposed ordinance will amend provisions dealing with <br />the declaration of a local emergency. <br /> <br />I hereby recommend your approval of this ordinance." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. King, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988}, BY AMEND SECTION 2-658 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO ADMINISTRATION." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />94-213 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to a~nend Chapter 22 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, (1988), by amending Section 22-574(c) <br />pertaining to motor vehicles and traffic. <br /> <br /> "The 1994 General Assembly of Virginia enacted changes to <br />the laws pertaining to certain statutes. Since these <br />requirements do not coincide with the requirements presently <br />listed in our City Code, changes to Chapter 22 of the City Code <br />are necessary. <br /> <br /> The proposed ordinance will amend provisions relating to <br />the towing of motor vehicles. The proposed ordinance provides <br />if the owner or representative or agent of the owner is present <br />and removes the vehicle before it is towed, then the owner or <br />representative or agent of the owner shall be liable for a fee <br />of twenty-five dollars in lieu of towing. <br /> <br /> I respectfully request and recommend your approval of this <br />ordinance." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA {1988), BY AMENDING SECTION 22-574(C) <br />THEREOF, PERTAINING TO MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
