June 14, 1994 <br />94-209.- Letter from the City ~anager recommending adoption of <br />an o.rd~.nance to enact changes which affect the City Code <br />provisions dealing with animals as enacted by the Legislature. <br /> <br /> "Recent acts of the Legislature make necessary changes to <br />several sections of the City Code that deal with animals. The <br />changes are necessary in order that the City Code be valid and <br />enforceable. <br /> <br /> I, therefore, recommend adoption of this ordinance in order <br />that the City Code be in compliance with State law." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt the <br />following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND C~APTER 4 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988), BY AMENDING SECTIONS 4-32(C), AND <br />BY ADDING THERETO SUBSECTION (E), BY AMEND SECTION 4-33.1(D) AND <br />BY ADDING THERETO SECTION 4-96(C), PERTAINING TO A/~IMALS AND <br />FOWL." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> (Councilman Hawks was absent at time of vote) <br /> <br />94-210 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to make the necessary changes to several sections <br />of the City Code that deal with the Building Code. <br /> <br /> "Recent acts of the Legislature make necessary changes to <br />several sections of the City Code which will broaden the <br />definition of the Building Code. These changes are necessary in <br />order that the City Code be valid and enforceable. <br /> <br /> I, therefore, recommend adoption of this ordinance in order <br />that the City Code be in compliance with State law." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. King, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 7-96 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (I988}, PERTAINING TO BUILDINGS AND <br />BUILDING REGULATIONS AND TO AMEND SECTION 17-22(A) OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988), PERTAINING TO <br />HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT... <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> (Councilman Hawks was absent at time of vote) <br /> <br />94-211 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />an ordinance to make the necessary changes to several sections <br />of the City Code that deal with taxation. <br /> <br /> "Recent acts of the Legislature make necessary changes to <br />several Sections of the City Code that deal with taxation. <br />These changes deal with the definition of "substantial <br />rehabilitation" of real estate, and provide for the assessments <br />and taxation of manufactured homes. Changes in the City Code <br />are necessary to bring it into compliance with State law. <br /> <br />I, therefore, recommend adoption of this ordinance." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. King, to adopt <br />the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
