June 14,1994 The Director of Public Works recommends that $50,000 be appropriated for this work. I concur with the Director of Public Works and recommend your approval of this item. With your approval, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund will be $11,166,991." Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. King, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $50,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR GENERAL CONTINGENCIES FOR RENOVATIONS AT THE SITE OF THE FUTURE TCC FINE ARTS CENTER, AT THE INTERSECTION OF HIGH AND COURT STREETS." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None 94-208 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $50,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund to continue the on-going program to construct handicapped ramps, and a motion to award the contract to Aldo Construdtion Corporation. "Funds are included in the 1993-98 Capital Improvement Plan to continue the on-going program to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Bids were received to construct approximately 115 handicap ramps on existing sidewalk, most of which will be installed on Portsmouth Boulevard. (See Attachment No. 1). The total anticipated project costs are as follows: Construction Contract (Aldo Construction Corporation) $56,200 The Director of Public Works recommends that a construction contract be awarded to the low bidder, Aldo Construction Corporation, and that $50,000 be appropriated to complete this work. Sufficient funds remain from previous appropriations to complete this work. I concur with the Director of Public Works and, with your approval of this item, the balance in the Capital Improvements Fund will be $11,116,991." Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. King, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "AI~ ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $50,000 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS FUND TO INSTALL APPROXIMATELY 115 RAMPS ON EXISTING SIDEWALKS." Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb None (Councilman Hawks was absent at time of vote) Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Pitts; to award the contract for the installation of ramps to Aldo Construction Corporation, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, King, Pitts, Webb Nays: None (Councilman Hawks was absent at time of vote)
