<br />94-243 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of
<br />an ordinance to amend Chapter 37 of the Code of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, by amending Section 37-132 pertaining to
<br />taxicab rates.

<br /> "The State Office of Weights and Measures recommends a
<br />change in our City Code pertaining to taxicab rates, in order to
<br />correct a disparity between the "drop" rates and the "waiting
<br />time" rates in the City's ordinance. The modification to
<br />Chapter 37, Section 37-132 of the City Code will not cause any
<br />decrease in revenues to the taxi industry and will allow the
<br />proper functioning of taxi meuers.

<br />anlendalent."

<br />the laws pertaining to bingo. Since these requirements do not
<br />coincide with the requirements presently listed in our City
<br />Code, changes to Chapter 3 of the City Code are necessary. The
<br />proposed ordinance will change regulations dealing with
<br />retention and disbursement of bingo proceeds, as well as other
<br />administrative matters.
