<br />you appropriate $25,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund and
<br />authorize award of the contract. With your approval, the
<br />balance in the Capital Improvement Fund witl be $10,856,991."

<br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following

<br />94-239 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of
<br />an ordinance to amend Chapter 22 of the Code of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virgln~a, pertaining to motor vehicles and traffic
<br />by amending Sections 22-83 and 22-85.

<br /> "The Conunissioner of the Revenue is requesting an ordinance
<br />to amend Chapter 22 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth
<br />(1988), pertaining to motor vehicles and traffic, by amending
<br />sections 22-83 and 22-85.
<br />
<br /> Amending these sections will change motor vehicle decal
<br />renewal date to February 15th instead of January 31st to be
<br />uniform with all Hampton Roads area localities.
<br />
<br /> The two week delay in the due date for collecting the motor
<br />vehicle license should not significantly alter the revenue
<br />collection for the City.
<br />
<br />I, therefore, recommend Council adopt this ordinance."
