To consider <br /> <br /> _This matter h~s passed out of <br />to the ~oint Ordinance Committee. <br /> <br /> Street Committee respectfully reports ~herein <br /> Street Committee January 10-!?th and previous: <br /> <br /> January 10th. <br /> <br />the incorporation of County street entirely in the Sixth <br /> <br />the hands of the Committee, having been referred by the Coun- <br /> <br />A request of the Traction Company for a re-~rrangement of its tracks in the City. <br />An application of J. C~ l¥ainwright & Son to sell shells to the City. <br /> <br /> A proposal of the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County to have the <br />expense of macadm~nising Glasgow street extended. <br /> -This matter has been referred to the City Engineer to ascertain <br /> <br /> Progress. <br /> <br /> Progress. <br /> <br />City join the County in <br /> <br /> the cost of curbing, gut- <br /> ~ering and macadamising Glasgow street, from Godwin to the Scott Creek bridge. <br /> <br /> A communication from Edward Overman about the condition of the ~est Park View bridge. ~e report that the condition complained of by Mr. Overman has been relieved. <br /> <br /> To pave the south side of 'Wythe street, between Third and Fourth. Progress. <br /> <br /> A communication about the paving of the South ~treet Road, between Chestnut s~eei.and-the <br />branch. Progress. <br /> <br /> We report further that the Portsmouth Coal & Ice Company has made application ~o hire the City <br />steam roller at ~t0~ <br /> ~. ~ per month. <br /> It is recommended that the said anplication~ be granted, provide~ an approved bond for ~o00 <br />be given the City for ~he return of the roller and equipments in as good condition <br />~di~q~~1~ r O~th~ S~ P0~ ~O~S~ ~h~l ~ ~ inspectmon- ~f ~heaSrollerwhen obtained;and a listl <br /> ~ ~ , en ~ ~sses ~nto the ~u~s of the Company and when ~t ~s returned to the <br />City, and his statement concerning the condition of the s~me shall be accepted as correct by the said <br />Portsmouth Coed & Ice Company. <br /> <br />And we submit further the following communication from the Norfolk & Portsmouth Traction Co: <br /> <br /> "Street Committee, City Council~ ~December 20th, 1911. <br /> <br /> ~r. ~. R. Hawks, Chai_~man~ <br /> <br /> "Gentlemen:-- <br /> "Owing to the proposed increase of street lights for the City and the Sixth and <br />Seventh V;ards, we find that it will be necessary to increase the number cf f~eders coming out of <br />our Middle street station. <br /> "To relieve the situation on Middle street, near North street, we respectfully ask that per- <br />mission be granted to place underground conduits in the lane in the rear of the sub station, known <br />as Eastwood's Lane, to the intersection of North street, as per blue print attached. <br /> "Respectfully submitted, <br /> "~orfolk & Portsmouth Traction Co <br /> by Sup't. of Portsmouth Lt'g." <br /> It is~e~ommende~ that the request of the Traction Compahy be granted, the work to be done under <br />the supervision 6f'the City_Engineer.~ <br /> (Signed) $. <br /> <br />T. Beard of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:--Your Fire Committee respectfully reports herein con- <br /> <br />cerning the following matters referred to the Joint Fire Committee January 10-17, 1911. <br /> Referred by Common Council January 10th. <br /> <br /> An application of the Union Fire Company for connection with the City Fire-alarm System at a cost <br />of $4o0.00. <br /> It is recommende~ that the application be granted. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen J~uuary tTth. <br /> <br /> Bills of ~. & G. P~rker to amount of $18. for three tons of coal supplied the Fire Department <br />previous to September l, 1910. <br /> We h~ve ex~mined these bills and recommend that they be paid. <br /> <br /> On motion, the report was <br />Finance Committee. <br /> <br />adopted and <br /> <br />(Signed). ~, N.
