Davis.~ <br /> B. ~sf A. <br /> <br /> The report of the Committee having been read, Mr. Langhorne moved that the ordinance, "To pro- <br />hibit the keeping of a gaming room, and gambling therein,. be referred to th~ City Attorney to ob- <br />tain his opinion as to the legality of the same. <br /> After considerable discussion of the matter by Messrs. Langhorne, Davis, Williams, and Ballen- <br />tine, the motion to refer the ordinance to the City Attorney was adopted by a vote of 7-S. <br /> <br /> On motion, the action of the Oommon Oouncil in recommitting the ordinance, "To amend Section <br />3BO and Repeal Section 326 of the Ordinances in relation to Railways," was concurred in. <br /> <br /> . On motion, the ordinance to regulate the removal of night soil from the Sixth and Seventh Wards, <br />was adopted by the following vote: <br /> Ayes--Walker, Williams, Langhorne, Ballentine, Adams~ <br /> Privett, Montague, Markham, Davis~ Murry, Nicholson, 11. <br /> <br /> Special;Committee on Almshouse~ <br /> Hon. Board of Aldermen.. <br /> Gentlemen:-~ <br /> <br />Your S~pecial Committee <br /> <br />on condition of the Almshouse respectfully reports <br />found the house, the ground, and the inmates in as <br />mit, but much Smprovement is needed to put <br /> <br /> that they have visited the Almshouse, and have <br /> <br /> good condition as circumstances there would per- <br />the place in first class condition. <br /> <br /> However, we would recommend at ~his time that two small two-room houses be built; one house for <br />white male and female, and one for COlored male and female tuberculosis inmates. <br /> <br /> I.t is further recommended that in future inmates of the Almshouse shall be sent there on order <br />of the' Uhairman or Vice-Chairman of the Almshouse Committee Only, when requested so to do either by <br />the Mayor, the Health Officer, or the Physician to the Poor." <br /> <br />(Signed). <br /> <br />W. ~ones Williams, <br /> Chairman B. of A. <br /> <br /> Mr. Williams stated that he had' signed this report in order to get it before the body~ but <br />there were some objections to it, and therefore he would move that it be reoommitted. <br /> The motion was adOPted. <br /> <br />that <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS. <br /> <br /> First.
