Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Street Oommittee reepectI~lly reports <br /> <br />herein concerning the following matters referred te the Joint B~reet Co~t~tee S~ptember 1E-i~, 1911: <br /> Referred by Common ~oil Sept. <br /> <br /> Adivsability of grading the H~ton Place sidewalks to oonfo~ with the grade of Dinwiddie <br />street. <br /> We =eco~end t~t the work be done, at a cos~ of $110.00. <br /> To consider the cost of grading, curbing, ~tte=ing~ ~d paving Third st=est, between ~ri~on <br />and Fays ~te. <br /> We reco~end ~ appropriation of $1800.00 for thi~ <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen SeptJ 19th, <br /> <br /> Advisability of paving the south side of Leckie street, from Azmstrong to Williams. We recommend an~ appropriation of $3?5°00 ~o do this work, <br /> We further reco~end~an appropriation of $~JES.00 to curb and gutter the east side of Pa~ke ave- <br />nue, from Naval to the north end of Parke. ~ <br /> Further, that the Etreet Committee be authorized~ to sell to A. Ogg the old stone at the north <br />end of Washington street, at ~l. E5 per cubic yard, Mr. Ogg to remove the stone from the street. <br /> Further, an appropriation of $1,000.00 to repair the sidewalks destroyed in the street paving <br />work.- <br /> <br /> F~rthe=, an appropriation of $12B.GO to ~uppty i~0 feet of double strength terra cotta pipe <br />on the west Side of Effingham street, between the so~th side of Beott street and the concrete cul- <br />vert in Rice's branch, as advised in the accompanying communication fr~m Bascom Sykes, Engineex for <br />the Seventh ~ard. <br /> <br />Further, am' a~propriation of $100.00 for stenographic work. <br /> (Signed). H. Cherry, Janitor of the City Market, for~an increase <br /> We have considered this petition and recommend that thesalary of <br />ket be increased $10.00 per month, begimning January 1, 191E. <br /> <br /> of salary. <br />the Janitor of 'the ~v- <br /> <br /> Authorized, with the concurrence of the Board of Aldermen therefor, to purchase a stove for <br />Ers. Nattie Hoofnagle, widow of the ~a~e Keeper~ of the Jail, out of appr'opriation tc Jail ~and <br />kef house, at a cost not xn excess of SEB. 00. <br /> We r~port tha~ we have purchased said stove, at a cost of $~.00. <br /> <br /> Yamstrueted to obtain plans and specifications for ~ new Clerk's offices to ascertain the cost <br />of moving the old building on the A~mistead property, when it shall have been bought, and fitting <br />up'said b~ilding for offices; and to consider =come in the ~old building for a public library. <br /> Progress as to same. <br /> Referred by Boa~d of Aldermen Sept. l~th. <br /> <br />coal <br /> <br />Directed to provide heat and light for Officers in the Ferry house. Progress. <br /> <br /> Your 0ommittee further recommends that it be authorized to advertise for bids to purchase <br />and wood for the public buildings for the coming season. <br /> <br /> Itais further recommended that an appropriation of $1E5.00 be made,' out of appropriation <br /> <br />to Market.m~d Jail, for repairs to the vegetable market, <br /> <br /> It is recommended further that the Committee be authorized to spend <br />out of appropriation for improvement of the Jail. <br /> <br /> (Signed).
