A co~m~nication from the Seventh Ward Board in re- <br />gard to the bad condition of Pearl street, between County and the South street road. Progress. <br /> <br /> To ascertain who is responsible for the condition .of p~pe under the Glasgow street bridge. <br /> The City Engineer states~ "That this pzpe is ~ot ~n bad condition, therefore, there is no <br />occasion for fixing responsibility for a condition that exists not." <br /> <br /> Attention called to the condition of pavement on Third street, between Fayette and Nelson. <br /> Progress. <br /> <br /> A request of the Business Men's Association for an appropriation of $100.00 to put in service- <br /> able condition the dock at the foot of High street. <br /> The City Engineer estimates that 'the necessary repairs to said dock will cost ~150.00. <br /> Therefore, we recommend that an appropriation of $150.00 be allowed, and recommend further that the <br /> Street Co~mittes be au.~horlzed to halve the w?rk done unaer contract, after seourzng bz~s for same; <br /> said work to be done zn accordance wzth specifications proposed by the City Engineer. <br /> <br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen December 19th. <br /> <br /> Recommitted. Several sections of the S~reet report bearing on Street Paving. <br /> After a thorough review of the matter, we can see no good reason for making a change in <br />- the program we have already recomEended. ~e~ therefore, recommend that the Committee be authorized <br /> to advertise for bids to p'.ave Glasgow st~eet~ from Godwin to the Scott Creek bridge, with one of <br /> thee Several forums of Bitumznous pavements; that we be authorized to advertise for bids to Dave with <br /> Bezgium block (which the City has on hand), Chestnut street, from Glasgow to South; and that the <br /> contract with the Atlantic Bithulithic Comoany be extended to cover a pavement of Washington street <br /> from Harrison to South~ <br /> <br /> A <br />street, <br /> <br />petition of the Stewards of Central M. E. L. Thomas~ Captain Signal Corps of Virginia Volunteers, to be furnished with <br />a room in the new arrangement of City ~ffices.
