<br />the same as the "Ordinance" for 1911-1S, with the following a-

<br /> Section 1, Par. i, to read-- "Be it ordained by the CoUnc. il of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />that for the year beginning May i, 191S, and thereafter until annulled by ordinance, the following
<br />occupations, acts and business transactions shall be deemed privileges and shall not be pursued or
<br />done within the limits of said city of Portsmouth, without payment o£ a license tax therefor, and
<br />the license tax thereon shall be annually as follows:"
<br />
<br /> Section 16, to read-- "Peddlers of market produce, fresh ~a~s or fish, and venders of f=uits,
<br />nuts, confectionermes, tea, coffee, sold on the streets or in other public places, $$0 for each tray~
<br />basket, cart, dray, wagon, wheelbarrow, pushcart or other vehicle used."
<br />
<br /> Section 17, to read-- "Any person, firm or corooration engaged in selling from wagons or carts
<br />ke~osene,_gasoline, or other illuminating oils by wholesale, or both wholesale ~ud retail shall pay
<br />a ~ax of $?5 on each wagon or cart so used."
<br />
<br /> Section 58, to read-- "On each toll bridge or foot ferry, $50."
<br />
<br /> Section 87, to read-- "On every theatre, or places where theatrical performances are usually
<br />held, $~00, $~ per day, $10 per week, or $~0 per month.~ ~
<br />
<br /> Section 9~, to read-- "On each billiard, pool or bagatelle table, $~0, and an additional tax
<br />of $1B on each table in excess of one. But where such billiard, pool or bagatelle tables are con-
<br />nected with a barroom, the tax shall be $80 for the first table and SEB on each additional table."
<br />
<br />Section 9~, to read-- "ShoOting galleries, each $50, $~.50 per week, or $15 per quarter."
<br />
<br /> Section i1~, to read-- "Bill posters, hand bill and card distributors ~and sign taokers, each
<br />$~0, or $1 per day. This tax is not to apply to merchants in the City of Portsmouth for advertising
<br />their business." ~
<br />
<br />Section iSZ, Eliminated.
<br />
<br /> Section 137, to read--"Any person, firm or corporation who shall engage in the business of sup.-
<br />plying gas for illuminating or fuel p~posss, one-half of one per cent from gross receipts of same."
<br />
<br /> Section l~S, to read-- "Any person, firm. or corporation who s~hail engage in ~h~ business of sup-
<br />plying water through pipes or mains, one-half of one per cent from gross receipts of same."
<br />
<br /> Section 1~9, added to read-- "The tax on the foregoing named businesses or occupations shall
<br />be for the time of one year, except where other, lee specifically set forth."

<br /> On mo~ion, the "Ordinance" as a~ended was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br /> The Annexation and Ordinance Committees, to whom was. referred on April ~th for preparation, an
<br />ordinance to annex to the City Port Norfolk and Pinners Point, submitted the following:
