Gentlemen:--Your Light Committee respectfully reporzs here- in concerning the following matter referr~a to the Joint Light Committee by the two branches of Court- cil June 14-19, 19lB: Referred by two branches June t4-19th. (With City Attorney). To prepare the form of a contract with the. Virginia Railway & Power Com- pany for installation and maintenance of the cluster light system in Hmgh street, from'Water to Chest- nut, in accordance with adopted resolution for same, and to submit said form of contract at next meet- ing of Oounoi!. Your Committee begs to submit a form of contract which they think would be proper ~o enter into with the Virginia Railway & Power Company, for lighting High street with cluster lights, and they recommend the adoption of such contract, subject to its being putin legal form by the City At- torney. To authorize the Public Property Committee to proceed against ~he ~erries Company to ~ecover cost of heating the City offices in the ferry building during occupancy by the City, said Company having contracted to furnish heat~ light, dc., for said offices. Not concurred in. Second. Matters adopted by the Commor_ Council July 9th and referred to the Board of Aldermen for concurrence. To withhold pay for rent of the Ferry building, pending settlement of matter in dispute about conditions of rent. To allow the paid men of the Chambers firs company to go with the Company on a trip north, with consent of Chief of the Fire Department.
