Guthrie for a better approach throug~ Wilson avenue from Glasgow street <br />to West Park View. <br /> We report that we have this matter under consideration, and are at work on Wilson avenue. <br /> <br /> Advisability of granolithic ~idewalks on the north side of Jefferson street, between Fourth and <br />Fifth, and on the east side of Fifth street~ between Fayette and Jefferson. <br /> We report that this matter has been referred to the City Engineer for an estimate as ~o <br />cost of the work. <br /> <br /> Instructed to recommend such changes in our ordznan~es as will define duties of the two engi- <br />neers~ <br /> We report that ~e do not think it advisable to recommend any changes in the ordinances as <br />to duties of the two engineers than ar~ now dezzned by ordinances. <br /> <br /> To investigate and report concerning condition of drainage on Griffin street, east of Dinwiddie. <br /> We~ report that this matter has been referred to the ~z~y~'~ Engineer for znves' t'zga~zon~' and <br />report. <br /> <br /> To investigate and report concerning a ~ow place in new bit~lithic pavement <br />of Dinwiddie ~ =~ <br /> s~re~, south of Clifford. <br /> The City Engineer reports that he has investigated the matter but can <br />location which requires immediate attention. <br /> <br />on the west side <br />find nothing in the <br /> <br /> To have an employee or employees remain on'duty during rains or i~mediately thereafter, for the <br />purpose of relieving choked gutters and drains~ <br /> We report that we have instructed th~ Street Inspector to have enough men on hand to re- <br />lieve choked gutters and drains, when it rains. <br /> <br />Requested to look into the manner of handling vehicle traffic at the ferry terminals. <br /> Progress as to-sams. <br /> <br /> Authorized to continue the laying of granoiithic sidewalks to the extent of appropriations now <br />available, at a cost of $.9~ per square yard. <br /> We report that the Committee is now acting in this matter, as authorized by Council. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen Sept. l?th. <br /> <br /> Recommitted. A bill of the Sixth Ward to amount of $I18.~, as the City's proportion of cost <br />for paving at the intersection of Chestnut and County streets, with request that the Committee ren- <br />der'a more definite recommendation as to cost for paving at said intersection. <br /> We have reconsidered 6ur two former separate recommendations concerning this matter, and <br />now recommend, as a substitut9 therefor, that the bill be not allowed. <br /> <br /> A request of Chairman of Committee of the First Friends Church for a pipe drain at the north <br />end of Fourth street, north side of Wythe. <br /> Ne.report that this matter has been referred to the City ~ngzneer for an estimate of cost <br />of the work. <br /> <br /> To construct a walkway of brick or granoiith from Hatton street westwardly on lane between Glas- <br />gow and North streets~ to the southern entrance of the Christian Church located on the northwest cor- <br />ner of sai~ lane~and Hatton street. <br /> We report that this matter has been referred to the City Engineer for an estimate of cost <br />for same. <br /> <br /> It is further recommended that the ~ayor~ with the City Attorney, be requested to proceed <br />at ono~ against the Virginia Railway and Power ~ v <br /> ~ompan~ to compel it to comply with its contract in <br />the reconstruction of its tracks on First street. <br /> <br /> Further, an appropriation of ~800.00 to pave the block on Glasgow street, from Chestnut <br />to Hatton, occupied by rail of the Virginia Railway and Power Company., <br /> <br /> Further, <br />side of Washington <br />for same. <br /> <br />that the Street Committee be authorized to put granolithic pavement on the east <br />stree~ from North street to Hampton Place, ~t of appropriation now available <br /> <br /> F~rther, an approloriation of $750.00 to curb.and gutter and lay a granolithic sidewalk on <br />the north side of North street~ bet~en' ~ Pearl and Cooke. <br /> <br /> (Signed). <br /> <br /> On motion, the report of the Committee was adopted, the <br />referred to Finance Committee. <br /> <br />T.
