December 17, i912~ (With FinanceCommittee),' A petition of the Y0un§ Men's Chrisiian Association to be advised upon what terms and conditions it could obtain the "Jail Lot." Progress as to same. A statement of certain painting, repairs~ ~c., needed at the several engine houses, and erection of a fire engine house in the Fourth Ward. We report that we are looking into the matter. the Referred by Boa2d of Aldermen November 19th. A request cf the Board of Police Commissioners £dr a store house or garage on or near the pre- sent City Jail premises, for protection of the new police auto-patrol wagon. We repbr~ that we find-room in the Jail Building for storage of the auto-patrol wagon, at a cost of about $600.00. A request of the Adjutant General of Virginia for of J. L. Thomas. Progress. Gentlemen:-- Your Light COmmittee~ respectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Light Committee November 12-19 and October 15, 1912: Referred by Common Council November 12th. A petition of Sallie K.-Williams and others for a~light at the corner of Washington and Streets. We report that we are not prepared at oresent to place a light there are ether places in the Citywhich should be considered first, but up-some time in the future we will be very glad to act upon it. Necessity of light ~ at the corner ~ ~No=th and Washington streets. We report that we do not consider that a light iS necessary at this point, as tights are already placed in close proximity thereto. Referred by Board of Aldermen November 19th, Recommitted. Question of a light at the corner of London and Chestnut s~reets. We reoort that we can add nothing to our pre~ious report in regard to this matter, namely that we are not ~t this time prepared to place a light at this point. Recommitted. Question of a light at the corner of Third and Wythe streets. Progress as to same. Carrot 1 at this ooint; we feel that if this matter is broug~ht A request 'Of Samuel H. streets. It is recommended Thomas and others for a_light at the corner of Stonewall and Effingham that a light be placed at~ this corner. Advisability of a light on Seaboard street, opposite lane between the~Market and Barlow's store. Progress. Referred by Board of Aldermen October l~th. Chairman B. of A. several recommended appropriations being Council December 10th and referred to the Board of Alder- To instruct the Finance Committee to ascertain if certain lands named in report to Council of the Board of Water Commissioners can be 'purc?msed and at what orice. (See records of Common Council December 10, 1912, page 147). To instruct the City Attorney to bring, a friendly suit against,the Virginia Railway & Power Com- pany to recover funds paid by the Sixth Ward for paving between tracks of the Company on street. To ins'trust the Ferry Committee to get in communication with the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk County and ascertain uoon what terms or for what price it will sell to the City Norfolk County'~ in- terest in the Ferries property. To instruct the Auditor to prepare Day rolls for January, 191~. To refer to Ferry Committee a request of The Ferries Company to be allowed to ~xtend its ferry house on the Norfolk side from Water street to its oresent location, at a cost of about $20,000.00.
