Board of Aldermen. <br /> <br />for awnings <br /> <br /> Gentlemen:~ Tour Ordinance Committee respectfully <br />following matters referred to the Joint Ordinance Committee June 10 and <br /> <br />ports herein concerning the <br /> <br />January B1, 1913: <br /> Referred by Common Council June 10th. <br /> <br /> An ordinance to authorize the Board of Police Commissioners to appoint Officer Pearl J. Wilson <br />a Desk Sergeant, without extra compensation for same. <br /> It is recommended that the following ordinance be adopted therefor: <br /> <br /> . An Ordinance to Amend and Re-ordain Section E35 of the Ordinances of the City with Reference to <br />Repealthe Police All Ordinances Force and Fixing in Confiic~the Compensation Herewith. of the Officers and Members of the Said Force, and to <br /> <br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen January Bist. <br /> A communication from Central Methodist and South Street Baptist Ch~rches requesting passage of <br />a "segregation ordinance." <br /> It is recommended that the following "segregation ordinance" be adopted therefor: <br /> <br /> An Ordinance to Adopt the Provisions of the Act of the General Assembly of Virginia, Entitled, <br />"An Act to Provide for Designation by Cities and ToYrns of Segregation Districts for Residence of <br />White and Colored Persons; ~or the Adoption of this Ac~ by Such Cities and Towns, and for Penalties <br />for the Violation of its Terms,. Approved Narch 1~, 1918. <br /> <br />(Signed). L.H. Davis, <br /> Chairman B. of A. <br /> <br /> The report having been read, the ordinance with regard to appointment of a Desk Sergeant was <br />sent back to the Committee with the Board of Police Commissioners, with instructions to state defi- <br />nitely the pay of such Desk Sergeant. <br /> On motion, the "segregation ordinance" was ordered to lie on the table until'next regular meet- <br />ing of body, and the appropriation of $300.00 asked for in said ordinance was referred to Finance <br />Committee. ' <br /> Then the report of the Committee, as amended, was adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion of 3tr. ~o'ore, the rules were suspended to take up the report adopted in the Common <br />Council in regard to the Seaboard Air Line Railway offices, but the report having been presented b~ <br />the Clerk, the Vice-Chairman of the Council Committee for said ~eaboard Air Line Offices stated that <br />the. report as presented had not been agreed upon'by the Committee and therefore he would .not offer <br />it for adoption. <br /> <br /> Lights-~ <br /> Hon. Board of Aldermen. <br /> ~*entlemen:~ Tour Light Committee respectfully reports herein <br />concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Light Committee June 10, May 13~0, April S- <br /> <br />lB, and February 11, 1915: <br /> Referred by Common Council June 10th. <br /> <br /> Advisabiliby of an incandescent light at the southwest~corner of Sixth avenue and King street. <br /> It is recommended that a light be placed at this corner, out of Sixth Ward funds. <br /> <br /> Referred by Common Council Nay l~th. <br /> <br /> Questiomof lights in the Union Fire Company's House. <br /> It is recommended that this matter' be referred to the Fire Committee. <br /> <br /> Referred by Beard of Aldermen Nay ~0th. <br /> <br /> Advisability of a light at the corner of Green and Emmett streets.
