<br /> The.report having been read, Er. Langhorne raised the question as ~o whether the status of the
<br />~ixth and Seventh Wards as fixed by the Act of Annexation would be affected by the proposed-plan of
<br />~edmstr~ctzno~ and ne moved that the matter be refer~ed to the City Attorney for his opinion thereon.
<br /> Mr. ~Onta~e suggested that the proposed, plan for red~strzctzng be prmnted and members o~ the
<br />Council and other interested parties be furnished with copies of same, and that in the meantime the
<br />proposition lie on the table.
<br /> ~. Langhorne accepted the suggestion by Mr. Monta~Ae, and the ~ePOrt]a~-~so amended was
<br />adopted. (Er. Ballentine excused from further attendance).

<br /> Special Committee on Seaboard Air Line Railway Offices-~
<br /> The Chairman presented papers bearing
<br />on the matter, but recommended only that part of the rspoTt adopted by the Commsn. Council, beginning
<br />with communications between Committees and the Seaboard Azr Line Railway authorities, which part he
<br />said had been adonted by the whole Committee.
<br /> He Eesired, ~e said, tO have the ~as~ of the report introduced by him recommitted, and he so
<br />moved. The motion was adopted.

<br /> First. Matters adopted by the Common Council September 9th and .emerred to the Board of'Alder-

<br />To authorize the Treasurer to renew notes to amount of $S0,000.00 falling due in October,~:isi3.

<br /> To send 4 delegates, E ~rem the Common Council, 1 from the Board of Aldermen, and the Mayor, to
<br />Convention of League of Virgmnia Municipalities, meeting at Roanoke, Va., October 14-15, 191S, a~ a
<br />cost not to exceed $100.00.
<br />
<br /> To refer to Finance and Public Property ~ommittees so~n ly the matter of an appropriation for
<br />Grimes Battery Gun Room.
<br />
<br /> To authorize the Public Property Committee to advertise for bids to supply coat.to the several
<br />City Departments for the year 1914; also to advertise for bids for improvements to the Seaboard Mar-
<br />ket as soon as plans for sams shall have been approved.
<br />
<br /> To instruct the Sixth Ward Board and the Engineer in charge of paving upper High street that in
<br />future no surplus dirt shall be disposed of to private parties, but shall be used to fill High street,
<br />· nclud~ng sidewalks, to its proper grade level and width.
<br />
<br /> All of the above were concurred in and by the following vote:

<br /> To allow the Virginia Railway &Powsr Co..to e~tBn~n~ground conduit from Hunter's La~e to
<br />Dinwiddie street, provided it pu~ two conduits for uss of the City between Middle and Dinwiddie
<br />streets, without expense to the City.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Davis said he thought that the Virginia Railway and Power Company was not explicit e-
<br />nough in stating what was desired by it. Therefore, he moved that the proposition be ordered to lie
<br />on the table, and that said Company be written to.and asked to be more explicit in its-request.
<br /> The motion was adopted.
