With your approval of <br />this item, the balance an the Capital Improvements Fund will be <br />$10,129,991." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to <br />adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $50,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR AIR MONITORING IN THE PORTSMOUTH CIVIC <br />CENTER PURSUANT TO THE ASBESTOS 0 & M PLAN." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />94-327 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />a resolution to convey property located at the northwest corner <br />of High Street and Cedar Lane to the Portsmouth Redevelopment <br />and Housing Authority. <br /> <br /> "Towne Development Corporation has made an offer to <br />purchase property located at the north west corner of High <br />Street and Cedar Lane. To accomplish this transfer it will be <br />necessary to convey the property to PR}IA. <br /> <br /> I am therefore recommending your adoption of a resolution <br />to convey this property to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority to conduct the sale." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, <br />adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF HIGH STREET WEST AND CEDAR <br />LANE TO THE PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, is the owner of <br />the parcel of property located at the northwest corner of High <br />Street West and Cedar Lane; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />has a potential buyer who is interested in developing said <br />property for residential use. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is authorized to convey to Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority all that certain piece or parcel of land <br />situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, being 1.715 acres, <br />more or less, as shown on that certain plat entitled "PLAT <br />SHOWING PROPERTY TO BE CONVEYED to CITY of PORTSMOUTH FROM <br />JOSEPH J. GARNER, JR.", dated October 9, 1981, made by <br />Engineering and Technical Services Department, City of <br />Portsmouth, and duly recOrded in the Clerk's Office of the <br />Circuit Court, of the City of Portsmouth, in Deed Book 820 at <br />page 56; LESS, SAVE AND EXCEPT that portion of land shown on <br />the aforementioned plat as "Dedicated for Road Widening".
