R. C. P. <br /> <br />62 <br /> <br />March lB, 19i~. <br /> <br /> (With Sewerage~Committee). A request of the employees of the Sewerage Power House for an <br />increase of pay. Progress. <br /> <br /> A request of the Treasurer to borrow $20,000.00 to meet City expenses for March, 1912. <br /> It is recommended that the request of the Treasurer be granted and that the following <br />resolution be adopted therefor: <br /> Resolvedi That the Treasurer be] and he is hereby, authorized <br />to make notes in The Batik of.Portsmouth, The Merchants' & Farmers"Bank, the Bank of Tidewater, <br />and The First National Bank, to amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00), to meet general <br />expenses of the City for March, 1912; said amount--to be repaid from the revenues of the City <br />for the current year. <br /> <br /> Bond of.~Deputy City Collector for year beginning January 1, !912. <br /> We report that we have examined this bond, found it to be satisfactory, and recommend <br />that it be accepted. <br /> <br /> To make available an appropriation of $540.00.for pavement of Race avenue, in the "budget" <br />for 1912. <br /> It is recommended that said appropriation of $540.00 be allowed. <br /> <br /> ~ An appropriation to cover expense of delegationb to the Senate Committee on Counties,Cities <br />and Towns, in the matter of the "Norfolk Water Bill." <br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation to amount of $599.50, be allowed 'for <br />sa~e. <br /> <br /> TO allow an appropriation to put two more hydrants in the Oak Grove cemetery, out of appro- <br />priation for same in the "budget" for i912. <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation to amount ~f $80.00 be allowed for same. <br /> <br /> An appropriation to connect up certain parts:of the sewerage line in the Fifth Ward, not <br />now connected. ~ <br /> It is recommended that this matter be referred to the Sewerage Com~&ttee for a recom- <br />mendation and estimates on same. <br /> <br /> $373.00 for rubber coats and boots, allowed in the "budget" for 1912. It is recommended ~hat said a~ount of $$75.00 be allowed. <br /> To make available the followin~ appropriations allo~ed in the "budget" for 1912: $?20.00 <br />for ~avinE'HiEh street, between Effingham'and Chestnut; ~88.00 for oa~ing Anne street, between <br />Ud6E~ ~nd-But~er~ $500;00 for paving Randolph street, between First ~nd Second? <br /> It is recommended that $?20.00 be allowed for pavzng High street, between Effingham <br />and Chestnut. <br /> The cther appropriations have already been allowed. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen February 20th. <br /> <br /> To close the Sinking Fund Aoco~t~ and to transfer <br />lng Fund Commission Account. <br /> It is recommended ~hat said reoomJnendation be <br /> <br />$231.90 <br />adopted. <br /> <br />from said account <br /> <br />to the Sink- <br /> <br /> To have all warrants drawn on the Sinking Ftmd Commission Account countersigned by the Mayor <br />and the Chairman ~f Finance Committee. Progress. <br /> <br /> To have all notes to be borrowed from the Sinking Fund Commission Account deposited in bank <br />f~r collection when due~ and interest as well as principal of same collected at each maturity <br />date of notes~ and that no loan be made to the City for a longer period than ninety days at a <br />time. Progress. <br /> <br /> To rec_uire the Health Officer <br />proper increase of pay. <br /> We report that we do not <br /> <br />to give his enti~e time to the duties of his office, with a <br />think action on this matter advisable at this time. <br /> <br />Advisability of codifying the City o. dmnances. Progress. <br /> <br /> To pay the Sealer of Weights and Measures a salary, or to gmve him one,half of the fines <br />imposed for violations of Ci~ty ordinances prohibiting the sale of unsound meat., &c.~ and to pur- <br />chase for him proper testing apparatus. <br /> We report that we do not think action on this matter advisable at this time. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Board of Quarantine Commissioners for an appropriation of $315.00 to meet <br />its expenses for the current-year. <br /> ~It is recomm~ended that said petition be allowed, and'.that said amoun~ of $315._00 be <br />paid in equal instalments quarterly. <br /> <br /> To pay a bill of Dalby~ Nottingham Company ~o amount of $39.00. We report that this b~ll has been paid. <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council December 12th. <br /> <br /> A petition of W. G. Hinton ~o be paid $2.50 which was erroneously assessed for night <br />tax on his wife's property No. 741 Ri~ervieW avenue. <br /> ~ d <br /> We report that said amount has already be~n re~un ed to ~.
