Common Council. <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-- Your Ferry Committee respectfully reports <br /> <br />herein concerning the following matter referred to the Joint Ferry Committee March 12, 19lB: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Couneit March 12th. <br /> <br /> Condition of walk way on the Norfolk side of the Ferry, and adjoining same. <br /> We report that the Clerk, by instructions of the Committee, has written the lessee of <br />the Norfolk County Ferries, calling his attention to condition of said walk way and asking him <br />for immediate improvement of same. <br /> (~ocompanying is a communication from the lessee of the Ferries in which he says that the <br />condition of said walk way wilI be improved at oncel. <br /> <br />(Si~oned). Matters adopted by the Common Council March 12th and. referred to the Board of Al- <br />dermen for concurrence. <br /> <br /> To refer to Finance Committee for an appropriation to maintain, during the month of March, <br />tglB, the street llontS on High, Effingham, and County streets, heretofore paid for by citizens. <br /> <br /> To allow the Clerk of Court $~00.00 and the City Sergeant $150.00 for their services in <br />the late re-assessment of City real estate. <br /> <br /> To authorize the Police Committee to advertise for bids to purchase a telephone and flash <br />light system for the Police force. <br /> <br /> To appoint a Conference Committee to consider the advisability of purchasing a patrol wagon. <br /> To appoint a Committee of Five to investigate the ~Ferry Bill." <br /> <br /> To appoint a Committee of Five to consider the advisability of establishing a Public Lib- <br />rary. <br /> <br /> To appoint a Committee of Three to supervise the destruction of useless papers in hands of <br />the City Clerk. <br /> <br /> To allow $$5.00 for work done on the City Jail prior to January 1, 1912, out of Public Pro- <br />perty "Contingent" fund. <br /> <br /> All of the above were concurred in, except the appointment of a Conference Committee <br />to consider the advisability of purchasing a patrol wagon, which matter was referred to the Po- <br />lice Committee. <br /> <br /> The BOard of Aldermen concurred also in all recommendations of committees adopted by <br />the Common Council, except the recommendation of the Fire Committee in regard to preparing a <br />set of rules and regulations for government of the Fire Department, which said recommendation <br />was recommitted. <br /> <br /> Second. Communications from the Mayor. <br /> <br /> The Mayor returned his approval of the fo21owing matters adopted by the two branches of <br />City Council March 1S-19, 191E: <br /> <br /> $1,790.00 to the Gamewell Fire-Alarm Telegraph Company for a Six Circuit Fire Alarm Repeat- <br />er and Automatic Storage Battery; and an extra appropriation of $~8~.B8 for wiring said appara- <br />tus; out of appropriation for Six Circuit Switch Board in the~"budget. for 19lB. <br /> $150.00 each to James A. Mulvey, Geo. D.~ Lawrence, and H. L. Alexander, late assessors of <br />City real estate. <br /> A special appropriation of $58B.~0 to pay Street Cleaning bills contracted during l~ll. <br /> An order of court to relieve W. S. Griffin~ administrator of estate of Joseph H. Parker, <br />deceased, from payment of $~?~.00 of City taxes. <br /> <br /> <br />
