A. Guthrie in regard to extending street car service to West <br />Park View. <br /> We report that the Clerk has written the Virginia Railway & Power Company in reference <br />to this matter. <br /> <br /> A proposal of the Bank of Port~mouth to lay a gra~olithic pavement in front ~of its property <br />at High and Middle streets, if the City will bear one-half of cos~ of said paving. <br /> It is recommended that the proposal be not accepted. <br /> <br /> Advisability of laying a granoiithic pavement on the north side of High street, from Din- <br />widdie to Court, and on the w~st side of Coprt street~ from High to Q~een. <br /> It is recommended that an approprzation of $650,.00 be alleged in the "budget" for 1913 <br />to lay a granolithic ~avement on the west~side of Court street, from High to Queen. <br /> <br />Conditibn of drain pipe on Fifth street, between Jefferson and Fayetteo <br /> We report that the condition of this drain pipe has been remedied. <br /> <br />Condition of iron grating at the corner of Henry and First streets. <br /> Ne have instructed the City Engineer to remedy this condition. <br /> <br /> To provide a granolithic sidewalk on the south side of Queen street, from E£fingham to <br />Chestnut. Progress. <br /> <br /> (With Finance Committee and Seventh Ward Board). Improvement of the roadway of Chestnut <br />street, from South to Lincoln. <br /> It is recommended that Chestnut street~ from South ~o Lincoln, be paved a~ follows: <br />From South to Griffin, full width of roadway, with Dollarwayjpavement; from Griffin street to <br />Race avenue, 18 feet of roadway, with Dollarway pavement; from Race avenue to Lincoln street~ <br />lB feet of roadway, with Doltarway pavement; and the said p~vement to be set with granite curb- <br />ing from South to Griff~n. <br /> It is further recommended that an appropriation of SB,000.00 be allowed for this work, <br />provided that the Seventh Ward will appropriate the balance to complete the work. <br /> <br />Advisability of paving the roadway of Jefferson street~ between Fourth and Sixth. Progress. <br /> <br /> (With Finance Committee). A request of the Civic League to~ have parked the unpaved-~ortion <br />o~£ the roadway of E~ffingham street, between Glasgow and High, and for an appropriation of $10.00 <br />or $~0.00 for trees and .shrubs to plant in .same. <br /> We recommend that, as the proposition is not practicable, ~the request be not g=anted. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen October iSth. <br /> <br /> To investigate ahd report concer~ih~g~two bills of the Street Department for six cords of <br />wood and two tons of Seal supplied at the~Incinerator, between August 19-E~th. <br /> We are informed by the City Engineer that Mr. Paul Whitehuret~ Superintendent of the <br />Incinerator, was responsible for this irreg~larity (see attached statement of the Engineer which <br />explains itself). Mr. Whitehu=st's attention has been called to the matter and, he states that <br />~he same will not occur again. Under the circumstances~ we recommend that the bills be allowed. <br /> <br /> <br />
