E. Dorin and Dr. Geo. H. Cart to deed t~o the City the r~ight to maintain <br />a drain on their properties on Gtasg~an~d LOndon ~t~reets, near Cooke, with certain conditions <br />named. Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> A communication from Dr. Jcs. A. Guthrie offering a site for a public dock. Progress. <br /> <br /> It is recommended that the Committee be allowed to spend $100.00~ out of Contingent <br />fund, now available, to lay a granolithic sidewalk on the west side of Dinwiddie street, north <br />of Hampton Place. <br /> <br /> It is further recommended that $1,000.00 allowed in the Budget ~for ~'Sidewalks, be now <br />made' available. <br /> <br /> There are now available appropriations for granolithic sidewalks .as follows: $800.00 <br />~or a w~lk on the East Side of Chestnut St., from G~asgow to High; $~96.00 for a walk on ~the <br />~orth S~de of Jefferson Et.i fro~ Fourth to Fifth; $E40~00 for.~ walk on the East Side of Fifth <br />~.,.fro~ J~fe~so~ to Faye~te; $18B.00 for a walk on the South Side of Glasgow ~St., from Ef- <br />nngnam mo Ghes~num. <br /> It is therefore recommended that the Committee be ~thorized to have this work <br />done at a 9cst of $.$~ per square yard, which work we are in a position to have done at this <br />p~e~ ~otwmt~stan~i~g the fact ?hat.this is the cheapest price at whigh the City has ever had <br />~nis cAass cz wor~ aon~ and tham concrete hasadvanced in price from $I.Q5 per bar~el, prevail- <br />ing when the price of $.~5 per square yard was Secured under comoetitive bids. to $1.50 net bar- <br />~el at the present time. <br /> ~ (Signed). Tyler said that he~ with a number of others, objected to havingall of such <br />paving done by one man, Mr. F1Mnn. <br /> Mr. P~wks replied, givin~g his reasons why the work had.been given to Mr. Flynn and claimed <br />that moneyhad been saved to the City by so doing. <br /> Mr. Johnson suggested that work c~ld not be done legally for the City without advertising <br />for same, and Mr. Hanvey was of the opinion that such work should be advertised fo~. <br /> Mr. Tyler moved to amend~ that the ~treet ~Commit~ee be authorized to advertise for bids to <br />do the work named. The amendmen~ was adopted. <br /> Then the report of th~ Committee, as amended, was ado~ted~ the recommended appropria- <br />tions being referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> Public.Property-- <br /> ~, Hon. Common Council. <br /> Gentlemen:-~ ¥~ur Public Property Committee respect- <br /> <br />fully reports herein concerning the following ma~ters refe~ed to the Joint Public Property Gem- <br /> <br />mittee April 8-i5, 191S: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council April 8th. <br /> <br /> A <br />now in <br /> <br />bill of The Ferries 0ompany to amount of ~800.00, <br /> We report that this bill has been approved by <br />~heir possession.. <br /> <br />for rent of rooms in the Ferry house. <br />the ~biic Property Oommittee and is not <br /> <br /> A request of the Police Justice to have his office fitted up with fitin~ oases. <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation of ~7~.00, or as much of ~he same as may be <br />necessary, ~e made ~or the purchase of a docket filing case; and it is further recommended that <br />the Police Justice be allowed office room in the office of the Mayor, if the same be acosptable <br />to~the Mayor. <br /> <br /> AdvisaDility of re-arranging lights in the Council Chamber. <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation of $90~00 be allowed for straight electric <br />fixtures, as a substitute for the present combined electric and gas fixtures therein, .~t of the <br />appropriation for the Municipal Building. <br /> <br /> To consider againzmatter of providing a storage room for <br /> It is recommended, as recommended in December, 191S, <br />be allowed for same. <br /> <br />the auto-patrol wagon. <br />that an appropriation <br /> <br />of Seco. co <br /> <br /> Instructed to distribut$ furniture in the former Council Chamber and old City Offices among <br />such City Officers as is thought advisable, and to dispose of the remainder of the furniture, if <br />there be any, to th~ highest bidder. <br /> ~e report that this matter ie being acted on. <br /> <br /> To report at next meetings of Council the number of phones needed for the Municipal Build- <br />lng, their location and cost of same. Progrews. <br /> <br /> Authorized to have plans'prepared and presented to Council for fitting:up the basement rooms <br />in the Courthouse.formerly used by the CSty, for rooms fo~ the Treasurer, City Collector, and <br />Commissioner o~ the Revenue.
