<br /> When the report had been read, Mr. Hall wished to know if there was not the same objection
<br />to recommendation to put paid men ~of _the Fire Department on Civil Service standing as there was
<br />to recommendation in regard to uniforms for said men, both matters having been laid on the table
<br />at the last mee~_ng of the body.
<br /> The Chair held that Mr. Hall's position was properly taken, and, therefore, the recommenda-
<br />tion was passed by.
<br /> ~n regard to the ordinance concerning wood and coal ya~de, a motion was made to suspend
<br />the rules in order to consider the proposed ordinance, but said motion was defeated, and the
<br />ordinance was ordered to lie on the table until next regular meeting of the body.
<br /> In regard to the proposed ordinance concerning lead ~oipe connections on upper High street,
<br />Mr. Hawks moved to suspend the ~ules in order to consider the passage of the ordinance. The rules were susa-ended, and he then moved the passage.
<br /> Considerable discussion ens.~sa between Mr. Hawks for and Messrs. Parker and Beisei against
<br />the passage of the ordinance, but finally the ordinaace was adopted and by the following vote:
