Progress. <br /> Referred by Common Council April 8th. <br /> <br /> To report at the next meetings of Councils the number of phones needed for the Municipal <br />Building, their location and cost. <br /> We have investigated this matter and find that four phones are needed for convenience <br />of the several_Officer~ in this Building, gne in the office of the City Clerk, one in the office <br />of the Sanitary Inspector with connection for office of the Auditor, one in the office of the <br />City Engineer with connection for offLce of the ~ayor, and one in office of the Clerk of Court. <br />But three of th~se phones only will be an additional expense, as the phone for the City Clerk's <br />office is a free phone. <br /> The monthly cost of these phones, with their cor~uections~ would be $19.00~ and the <br />cost of ins~al!ing them_properly through pipes would be $4B.00. <br /> It is recommended that the monthly cost of same be paid ~ut of a special appropriation <br />to the Public Property Department, while the appropriation for installation be paid from the ap- <br />propriation to the ~unicipat Building. <br /> (~igned). Board of A!~ermen May BOth. <br /> <br /> An ordinance to allow the paid men of the Fire Department to continue in office during temms <br />of good behavior. <br /> We have looked into this mat£er? believe that it w~uld be inadvisable to make any <br />changes as to manner of appointing or electing the paid men of the Fire Department, and recom- <br />mend that mo such change be made. <br /> <br /> Advisability of an ordinance to prohibit or regulate the placing of wood and coal yards in <br />residential parts of the City. <br /> We have looked i~to this matter and recommend that the following ordinance be adopted <br />as to same: <br /> An O~dinance G~vernin~ the Location and Opera,ion of Wood and Coal Yards. <br /> <br /> (With Street Committee). A petition of E.
