<br />resolution: "Th rescind former action in requiring the paving of High street to begin at Chest-
<br />nut street and proceed westward, and matter to be left to the discretion of the Street Co~aittee
<br />with the understanding that, when the work is finished within the appropriation for same, no gap
<br />or unfiuished portion of the. street in the.vicinity of Chestnut street will exist."

<br />codas%one by the CounciIs to bring suit against the Virginia Railway & Power Company to recover
<br />money expended on tracks of said Company by the Sixth Ward Local Improvement Board, Resolved,
<br />if said suit has not yet been instituted, that the Mayor be requested to have the suit instituted
<br />at an early date~ and report to the
<br /> Mr. Hawks moved to amend by adding the following: "That the City Attorney be authorized to
<br />employ additional counsel for assistance in this work, if necessary."

<br /> 'Er. Hall moved that the matter of re-arranging lights in the Municipal Building and purchase
<br />of additional lights be referred to Finance and Public Property Committees jointly.
<br /> The motion was adopted.

<br /> Er. Baker stated that $~00%00 had been appropriated for preliminary work of codifying the
<br />City Ordinances, but $~00.00 of said amount was appropriated before January l, 191~, and was not,
<br />therefore, available, because it had been absorbed in the General Fund.
<br /> Re then asked that said amount of $~00.00 be re-appropriated~ and the matter was re-
<br />ferred to Finance Committee.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Tyler called attention to appropriation of ~500.00 a~ked for some time since for im-
<br />provement zo p~ayground at the corner of Wythe and Court streets, he said that something ought
<br />to be done towards such improvement and he thought the grade line.for said p~ayground should be
<br />established, and he moved~J~hat the City Engineer be so instructed.

<br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson, the adv~sabmh~y of a light at the corner of Green and Griz~in
<br />streets was referred to the Light Committee.
