Tyler, <br /> Chairman <br /> <br /> The report having been read,.M~.~ Tyler desiredto suspend the rules in order ~to put on its <br />passage a proposed ordinance governing the location and operation of wood and coal yszds, and <br />explained why he wished for passage of the ordinance at this meeting.~ <br /> Mr. Hawks replied that there might be reasons sometimes for a suspension, of rules, and <br />while the proposed ord%nance might be a goodone, he could see no proper reason for suspending <br />the rules for the pass~ge of an ordinance of this kind. <br /> ~r. Tyle~ did not press~ the mattem, and on motion, the proposed ordinance Nas ordered to <br />lie on the table until next regular meeting of body~ <br /> Then the report, as amended, was adopted. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS. <br /> <br /> First. Matters adopted DY the Common Council June loth and referred ~o the Board of Alder- <br />m~n for oonourrenoe. <br /> <br /> To instruct the City Engineer to prevent the Suburban Water Company, or any other water <br />company not having a contract with the City, from laying wate~ mains in the~ City of POrtsmouth. <br /> <br /> To authorize the Street Committee to ne§otiate with the proper par~ies for the purchase of <br />a right cT way for the extension of Patton street, from London to High. <br /> <br /> To instruct the City Attorney to draft a~ con~ract between the City and The Gamewell Fire <br />Alarm Telegraph ~o. to supply a telephone and telegraph system, without flash lights. <br /> <br />All of the above were concurred in. <br /> <br /> The Board concurred also in all recommendations of 0ommittees, adopted by the 0ommon <br />Counci~ J~ne 10th. except recommendation of the Finance Committee to pay certain bills held up <br />by the AuGitor, and recommendation of the Street Cormmittee to appropriate $1, S00.O0 to run a <br />nine line from London street to connect with the present pipe line on Glasgow street, which said <br /> <br /> <br />
