210. <br /> <br />~u~ust 1S~ 19t~. <br /> <br /> It is-recommended that a special appropriation to said amount be allowed. <br /> <br /> To make available $~0.00 allowed in the Budget for repairs to cemetery fences. It is recommended that said amount be made available. <br /> <br /> To make available $100.00, out of appropriation of $3,000.00 for Seaboard Market House, <br />order- to employ services of an architect on same. <br /> We report that this matter is covered by recommendation above. <br /> <br /> It is further recommended that, on request of the Mayor~ the balance of $150.00 al- <br />lowed in the Budget for Police "Contingent" be made available. <br /> <br /> {~igned)~ Jno~ Mc. ward Mall, <br /> Chairman C. Common Council. <br /> <br />Gentlemem:-- Your.~treet Committee respectfully reporms <br /> <br />herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Street Committee July 8-i~, 1913: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council July 8th. <br /> <br /> A bid of the Virginia Railway & Power 0ompany for a franchise on High stree%, between Ef- <br />fingham street and Ninth avenue. <br /> It is recommended that the bid of-the Virginia Railway & Power 0ompany be accepted. <br /> <br /> To give the Finance Committee further information concerning recommended approprma~mon of <br />$1,~O0.00 to lay a pipe line from London street to connect with present pipe line on Glasgow <br />street. Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> A petition, o~f the City ~ngineer for one month's leave of absences with pay.. <br /> It ie recommended that ~he City Enginee~ be given a leave o~ absence for one month, <br />to be taken by him a week at a time, when he can be apared from supervision of work. <br /> <br /> Authorized to repair the pavement in Hampton Place, <br />of appropriation already available for same. <br /> We report t~t the pavement is being repaired. <br /> <br />at a cost not in <br /> <br />excess of $tZ5.00, out <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen July 15th. <br /> <br /> A communication from the Park Commission to have the Seaboard Air Li~e Railway Company re- <br />move its spur track from the land lately purchased of Phillips & Mahoney.~ <br /> it is recommended that the Clerk write to said Company and request it to remove said <br />track. <br /> <br />(With Finance Committee). $100.00. to repair the foot bridge at the east end of High street. <br /> We report that we w%zl acres wzth the Finance Committee to repair sa~a brzdge. <br /> <br /> A petition from L. C. Brinson and sundry others for the extension of Sixth s~reet to Wash- <br />ington. Progress. <br /> <br />To consider-the cleaning up of weeds on the streets~ in Park View and West Park View. <br /> We report that we will instruct the Street In~peqtor to olean up these weeds. <br /> <br /> Question of removal from High street, between Chestnut and Pearl, tracks of the Seaboard <br />Air Line Railway CO.~ and if possible, to do away with~ A third track in that section of new pav- <br />ing.. Progress. <br /> <br /> To consider the advisability of puttinE a ~oot bridge at the foot of Leckie stre;et to con- <br />nect with West Park View, and also to consider ~gain condition of.the ~est Park View Bridge. <br /> We report that we do not consider the proposition advisable, and therefore do not <br />commend the same. <br /> <br /> To endeavor to obtain street car service for West Park View. <br /> It is recommended that the Clerk write to the Assistant Gene~ai Manager of the Virginia <br />P~ilway & Power Company and make the request. <br /> <br /> It is further recommended that the Committee be authorized ~ side~ <br />walk on the south side of Viil~ str street to West an <br />estimated cost of $i$5.00, and a ~e <br />to Butler, at an estimated cost of , out of appropriatiOz~ ~ now available. <br /> Also to pave Lincoln street, from 9ixth street to Seventh Ward line, at an estimated <br />cost of $~,060.~00; ~a~gOW street, from ~ffingham to Hatton~ and from Godw~n to Scott Creek <br />Bridge. for $16,501.00; Washington street, from North to South, SE~O00.00;~Queen street, from <br />Wate~ ~0 Cra~fo~d, and east side of Crawf6rd, from Queen to <br /> And that advertisement be ma~e for the work. <br /> <br />It is recommended further that <br /> <br />the baianoe of Bond Issue be made available ~o <br /> <br /> (Signed~; E.B.
