<br /> The amount named for hydrant rental is due the Portsmouth Suburban Water Company,
<br />stead of She Portsmouth, Berkley & ~uffolk Water Company; and it is recommended that a special
<br />appropriation to the following amonnts, with interest to December $1, 191~, be made to said
<br />Portsmouth ~uburban Water Company, provided ~hat said payment shall be without prejudice, in
<br />the premises, to rights of either the ~ity or the Water Company:

<br /> It is recommended that the request be granted and that the following resolution be
<br />adopted ~herefor:
<br /> Resolved, That the Treasurer be~ and he is hereby, authorized to make notes
<br />in The Bank of Portsmouth, The Merchants' & Farmers' Bank, the Bank of Tzdewater, and The First
<br />National Bank of Portsmouth, to amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($~0,000.00), ~aid amount to
<br />be repaid from revenues of the City for the current year.
<br />
<br /> · (With Public Property Committee). Matter of re-arranging lights in the Municipal Building
<br />and providing for additional lights ~n same. Progress.

<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation to-said amount be allowed.

<br />To make available $500.00 allowed in the Budget for "West Park View Streets."

<br /> $500.00~ or as much of the same as may be necessary, for getting up plans and specifications
<br />for rep$irs to the Seaboard Market House.
<br /> It is recommended that $100.00, out of $3,000.00 available for Seaboard Market House,
<br />be allowed for the purpose named.

<br /> To make available $~00.00 allowed in the Budget for reception of Naval Committee visiting
<br />Norfolk and Portsmouth.
<br /> It is recommended that $84.50 of said amount be made available, in accordance with.
<br />bill rendered for same..

<br /> $Z,530.00 to curb and gutt. er, and sh.~l roadway of Pearl street in the Seventh Ward~ ~orth
<br />from South street, the cost to be charged to the new ward or wards in accordance with recent
<br />opinion of the City Attorney thereon.
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of~$~,5S0~00 be advanced for this work,
<br />said amount to be repaid to the City by the Sixth Ward.

<br /> Appropriation to send representatives to C~nvention of League. of'American Municina~ities,.
<br />meeting in W~nnzpe., Canada, August ~, 8, and 9th 1913; and also to pay-dues Of the ~ity to the
<br />League.
<br /> As the time for meeting this Convention was passed, it is recommended that no appro-
<br />priation be made for the purpose named.
<br /> With regard to dues of the City for membership in said League, we report Progress.-
<br />
<br /> A request of the Seventh Wa~¢ Board for a supplementary appropriation of $700.00 on Seven-
<br />th Ward Street Budget for 1913.
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of SEO0.00 be made to said Ward, to
<br />meet its expenses Tot August and September, said amount to be repaid to the City when the Ward
<br />funds are available.
<br />
<br /> Report of the Auditor of t~e following bills held up by him, because of lack of appropria-
<br />tion for them or because they exceeded 1/l~ of aporopriation allowed for same: Public Property,
<br />$16.55; Almshouse, $12,50.
<br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of $12.~0 be made to pay Almshouse
<br />bills; and the Public Property bills be allowed~ with the provisions that the payment of same
<br />does net exceed 1/lS of appropriation for them.

<br /> The Stree~ Committee could not mee~ with us, but, as the proposition seems advisable,
<br />it is recommended that $100.00 be allowed from Street "Contingent" fund for the purpose.

<br /> $50.00, out of money available for repairs to'City Market, ~o enable the Public Property
<br />Committee to obtain plans and specifications for same.
