<br />but-having since investigated the matter, we would recommend that the bill be paid, out of the
<br />first funds in hand for the Seventh Ward; and that the Auditor be instructed to d~aw a wa~rs~t
<br />in favor of Mr. Crocker for said amounT.

<br /> Communications from F. J. McGuire to the Mayor, and from the City Engineer to Chairman Of
<br />the Street Committee~ concerning the pa~vement on upper High street.
<br /> It is recommended that 'ali properly approved bills of F. J. McGUire against the City
<br />be paid, after he shall~have signed a contract and given bond for the work, and that the City
<br />Engineer be instructed to go ahead with the paving of upper High street as far west as the west
<br />side of Seventh avenue.

<br /> A communication from the Sixth Wa~rd Board objecting to work on Pearl street in the Seventh
<br />Ward being done at the expense of the Sixth Ward.
<br /> We report that this matter h~s passed out of the hands of the Committee.

<br /> A pet!ition of the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. for permission to lay a cable, and
<br />build a manhole at the foot of Crawford street.

<br /> To pave with granolith the sidewalk on the north side of Randolph street, between First and
<br />Second. Progress.

<br />Attention called to crowded condition of the Prentis Place cars, especially on Saturdays,
<br />Sundays and holidays; and requested to ascertain if more cars can not be secured for said route.
<br /> We have instructed the Clerk to write to the Virginia Railway & Power Company and re-
<br />quest it to put on sufficient cars, especially on the days named.
