'December 9, 1913. We report that we will recommend in the Budget of 1914 an appropriation of $450.00 to curb, gutter and lay a granolithic sidewalk on the south side-of Wythe street, from Court to Third. To pave O0oke street, from Glasgow to Harrell.~ Progress. To provide iD the Budget of 1914 for paving of Crawford street, from High to London. Progress. To extend the pavement'of Effingham' street, from County to South. Progress. ~'- It it further recommended that t~e Street Committee, ,City Attorney, and City Engineer be a~thorized to take up with the Harbor Commissioners the ma~er of the p~oposed bridge at the Cat Hole in First street, and it is the sense of the Committee that the span should not be over 10 feet. It is further recommended that Section 531 of the Ordinances be amended so as to pro- vide a c..h~ge for opening st~eets and roadways not paved with b~iok, cement or plastic pavement; that Sec~mon ~93 9f the Ordinances be amended so as to provide $3.00- instead of $1.50 for open- lng brick eidewalks; and~hat a charge be made for cpen~n~ granolithic s~dewalks. It is recommended further that the City Engineer be directed tc inspec~ the poles of the Virgi~kia~allway & ~ower ~ompany and ascertain if they are in~'conformity with the contract, and where theyare' not xn accordance with the contract, to notify the Company to conform ~o the contract at once, and also that the City Engineer report the result of this inv&stigation to the Councils. Public Property-- Council. G~ntlemen:-- Your Public Property Csmmittee respect- fully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Public Property. Com- mittee November 11-18 a~.d September 9-1~, 1913: Referred by Common Oounoil November tlth. A request of the Judge. of the Hustings Court for an appropriation of $600.00~to be included in the Budget of 191~, for renovation and equipment of the Court Room. We report that the Cour~ room is in need of general repairs and it is recommended that an appropriation of $800.00 be made therefor. Authorized to obtain plans for fitting up City basement rooms in the Co~urt House or.offices in the Armist~ad ~uilding, for City offices; and to get ~the co-operation of Norfolk County in ta~ing down the fence and coping around.the Court House yard. W~ r~port that the Committee deems it advisable to fit up.~he City basement rooms in the. C.o~..t.House for use ?f the Treasurer, City Collector, and Commissioner~of Revenue, and for such z~ttmngup and furnxshing it is recommended tha~ an a~propriation of $~,000.00 be made. With regard to fitting up the Armistead Bumtding, it is not considered necessary &t '~ this time, because~ with the completion of the COUrt House property, al} of the City Officers heretofore supplied with rooms by the City will have been s~it~bly provmded for.
