<br />concurrence.

<br /> To allow the Chief of Fire Department to use Washington street, from High tS County, for
<br />One week from August ~$-Zgth, for the purpose of holding a street fair and carnival; provided,
<br />he obtain the consent of residents in this locality and report same to the Council.

<br /> To appropriate $~0.00 for fitting up old Council Chamber, Clerk's Office, and room in the
<br />Armist~ad Building, for City Collector, City Treasurer, and Oommissioner of Revenue, respective-
<br />ly; samd work to be done under the supervision of the Public Property Committee.

<br /> To authorize the TreaSUrer to renew notes to amount of $18,500.00 due on "Municipal Build-
<br />ing" in April.

<br /> To appoint the Presidents of the two branches and Clerk as a Committee to examine coupons
<br />and sundry papers in.the vault of old Council Chamber, with a view of.destroying such as are use-
<br />less.

<br /> Report of. the joint Auditing and Finance committees in regard to manner of handling ~ity

<br /> All of the above were concurred in by the Common Council at a special meeting March
<br />$1st, except to allow a bill of I. C. Brinkley for supplying the Almshouse with pr~visione for
<br />February, which bill was held up until the contract between Nm. Brinkley and the Cmty is complied
<br />with and made satisfact~ox-Y to the Almshouse Committee.
<br /> There being a disagreement between the two br_anchee as to manner ef ~owing th~cbill,
<br />on motion cf Mr. Mall, the bill was allowed, not to include the item for e-~e~lO, still leaving
<br />that matter in the hands of the Almshouse Committee for adjustment.

<br /> Fourth. Matters adopted by the~Board of Aldermen March 17th and =eferred to Common Council
<br />for concurrence.

<br /> To appoint a Conference Committee in regard to manner o~ ~nforcing contract between the
<br />City and Va. Ry. & Power Co. for~trackage at the intersection of Nigh street and S. A. L. Railway.

<br /> To instruct the Sixth and Seventh Waxd~Boards that they must not contract bills for their
<br />Wards without consent of the City Council therefor.

<br /> The Mayor returned his approval of the following matters adopted by two branches of City
<br />Council Ma~ch 6-10-1?-riot, 1~14:

<br /> To rescind previous action in authbrizing the Treasurer to borrow $3,05~.87 for payment of
<br />balance due on up, er Sigh street, said amount to be repa~dby the Sixth Ward, and to authorize
<br />the borrowing of $~,1~3.$5 for the.purpose, said amount mncluding interest.
<br /> To pay,.out of S~xth and Seventh.$ard funds, the following bills held up by %~c Auditor:
<br />Sixth Ward, $1,427.43, Seventh Ward, $1,4S9.01. .
