No. 896~ Ave. I. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS. <br /> <br /> A communication was read from the School Board asking for an additional appropriation of <br />$80,000. to defray running expenses of public schools for remainder of fiscal year. <br /> The matter was discussed and finally an appropriation of $5,000. was made to meet <br />expenses of the schools for September~ and by the following vote, leaving for incoming Council <br />the question of providing the balance: <br /> Ayes--Oorbitt, Hall, White, Parrish, Hanvey, <br /> Herbert, Moore, Johnson, Cross, Tyler, Hawks, 11. <br /> <br /> The Auditor reported the following.bills held un by him, because of lack of appropriation <br />to cover the same: Police, $?.00; Publzc Property, $45.85; Sixth Ward, $311.45; Seventh Ward, <br />$149.50. <br /> On motion, said bills were referred to Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> A request was received from ~he Treasurer to borrow $20,000. to meet Current Expenses for <br />Sep~ember~ and also to renew notes to amount of $177,700. becoming due in September. <br /> On motion, the request to borrow $80,000. was referred to Finance Committee and the <br />renewals were .authorized by the following vote: <br /> Ayes--Oorbitt, Hall, White, Parrish, Hanvey, <br /> Herbert, Moore~ Johnson, Cross, Tyler, Hawks, ll. <br /> <br /> On motion of Er.
