Common Council. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Water & Sewerage Committee re- <br /> <br />spectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Water & Sewer- <br />age Committee October 1S-E0~ 1914: <br /> <br />Referred by two branches October 1S-EOth. <br /> <br /> For proper interpretation of the contract between the City of Portsmouth and the Portsmout$, <br />Ber~ley & Suffolk Water Co. <br /> At a meeting of the Joint Water & Sewerage Committee Friday, November 6th, there were <br />present with the Committee the City Attorney, Mr. T. J. Wool and other representatives of the <br />Water Company, President of the Board of Aldermen, and citizen~. <br /> After the reading of sundry comptain$s from citizens about water cha~ges, &c., the <br />matter referred was thoroughly discussed and finally it was decided to recommend to your honom- <br />able bodies, and we d~ recommend, that the City Attorney be instructed to lsy these complaints <br />before the Corpo=~tion Commission for the purpose of ~aving them adjudicated by said Commission. <br /> <br /> A petition of Joe. F. Culpepper and sundry other residents of t~e Sixth Ward for a hydrant <br />at North street and Eleventh avenue. Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> To take up with the Portsmouth, Berkley & Suffolk Water Co. the advisability of purchasing <br />its water supply. Progress. <br /> <br />To consider the advisability of purchasing 600 feet of rubber hose for flushing purposes. <br /> We report that this matter will be considered for the Budget for 1915. <br /> <br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen October BOth. <br /> <br /> Advisability of ch~ging a h~dmant from the corner o~ Effingham and Lincoin streets to Hen- <br />ry and Effingham. C. <br /> <br /> On motion, the report of the Committee was adopted and on motion, it was concluded that <br />the Street Committee has charge of the ends of streets. <br /> (Present Mr. Houghton). <br /> UNFINISHED BUSINESS. <br /> <br /> First. Matters adopted by the Common Council October 13th and referred to the Board of <br />Al~ermen for concurrence. <br /> <br />To authorize the Treasurer to renew notes to amount of ~64,000..,falling due in November. <br /> <br /> To appoint a Committee to act with a committee from the Norfolk City Council for perfecting <br />and ~arrying into effect .proper action for the continued improvement of Hampton Roads and its <br />tributaries. <br /> <br /> To instruct the City Collector to proceed at once to collect back taxes, both on real es- <br />?ate and personal p~operty~ and to authorize him to call on the City Attorney for such advice <br />and assistance as he may need in the matter. <br /> <br />All of the above were concurred in. <br /> <br /> The Board concurred also in all recommendations of Committees adopted by the Common <br />Council October lZth. <br /> <br /> <br />
