B. <br />Preston, engineer for the City in charge of the work on upper High street, for a conference with <br />the Street Committee im regard to a bill of F. J. McGuire to amount of $3~848.E4, for work done <br />by him on said street. <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation of $24~35 be allowed to pay Mr. Preston's ex- <br />penses. <br /> <br /> A report o~ th~ Auditor of.following bills held up by him~ because of lack of appropriation <br />for same: Police, $191.60; Public Property, $7.45; Sixth Ward, <br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of~ $189.$5 be allowed to the Polic~ De- <br />partment to pay for repairs to auto-patrol, and balance of $1.75 reported be allowed the Po~ts- <br />mouth Lumber Co~rporation, out of.balance of appropriation for Police "Approved Bills" allowed <br />in. the Budget; ~'7.45. to the Public Property Department, out of ap ropriation for "Unapproved <br />Bmlls" allowed to samd Department in the Budget; and $942.32 to P~; Sixth Ward billa, out of <br />Ward funds. <br /> <br />Reports of the Auditor, Treasurer, and Sixth and Seventh Ward Boards for September, 1914. <br /> Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> A petition of W. H. 8hackelford to be paid $9.34, one-half month's salary as Secretary of <br />the Seventh Ward Board. <br /> It is recommended.that said petition be referred to the Seventh Ward Board for endorse- <br />ment. <br /> <br /> (With Police Committee) A ~ommunicatien from the Superintendent of the <br />tO the Mayor concerning condition of the police telephone wires. <br /> We report that this matter is covered by recommended appropriation <br />lng re-arrangement of the Fire Alarm System. <br /> <br />Fire Alarm System <br />in section concern- <br /> <br /> A communication from the American Surety Co~ in regard to obtaining cancellation of the <br />bond for the Mayor. <br /> It is recommended that the said Company be released from further liability under this <br />bond. <br /> <br /> A resolution of the School Board for a levy of $.50 on the $100. of assessed values of real <br />and personal property within the City~ for Public School purposes exclusively. <br /> We repo~ that this matter will be consideredlin~the Budget for 1915. <br /> <br /> (With Publi~ Property Committee) A bill of C. S. Sherwood to amount of $~5.00, for care <br />of the City Hall clock for year 1913. <br /> It is recommended that this bill be paid out of Public Property "Unapproved Bills" <br />provided for in the Budget for 191~. <br /> <br /> A petition of F. W. Richardson to be refunded $1.80 paid in erro~ ~or night.soil tax in <br />the Seventh Ward for year 19i3. <br /> It is recommended that said petition be granted, out of Seventh Ward funds. <br /> <br /> A petition of Mrs. Lizzie A. Ronson to be refunded $10.$0 paid for erroneous assessment of <br />night soil tax for the years 1913 and t914. <br /> It is recommended that said petition be granted-. <br /> <br /> A petition ef L. T. Walker to be refunded $$.45 paid in error for night soil tax for the <br />yea~s.l~l$ and 1913~ <br /> It is recommended that said petition be granted. <br /> <br /> A petitiem of Ed. S. Murphy to be refunded $15.30 paid in excess for taxes for the years <br />1913 and 1914, in the name of Jno. Thomas Murphy. <br /> It is recommended that said petition be granted. <br /> <br /> ~Abstracts of judgments against the City in case of A. J. Phillips & T. J. Wool for $$~50. <br />with interest and cost, and in case of E. Parke Lindsay for $916.7E, with interest and cost, ac- <br />compamied by a oomm~ication from the City Attorney concerning said judgments. <br /> It is recommended that these judgments be pal6 with ~ost and interest in each case. <br /> <br /> A bill of P. B. & S. Wate= CO. to amount of $11, 511.98, for increased ~h~-drant rental on ac- <br />count of taxes levied and collected ~or the years 1905-191~, inclusive, with interest. <br /> It is recommended that said bill be paid upon advice and approval of the City Attorney, <br />when amount named, $11,511.98, is properly verified by the City Attorney. __ <br /> <br /> Bills of~the P. B.~& S. Water Co, against the ~ixth Ward to amount of $2?5.00, for 3 months <br />'ending-Sept. 30, 19i4, balance due $~,868.63, with znterest; against the Seventh Ward to amount <br />of $Z75~00, for 3 months ending Sept. 30, 19t4, balance due $2,835.87, with interest. <br /> It~is recommended that Said bills be paid upon advice and approval of the City Sttor- <br />ney, when amount due is properly verified by him, base~ on hydrant rental at the rate of $40. <br />per annum, plus amount received for taxes in the respective Wards. <br /> <br /> A oomm~ication from the Commissioner of Revenue concerning over-assessment on City banks <br />for the year 1914. <br /> It is recommended that the amounts over-assessed against certain City banks by the <br />Commissioner of Revenue for 19i4 be refunded ~o such banks as have paid under said assessment <br />or shall hereafter pay under the same. <br /> <br /> A petition of Mrs. Mattie O.
