Common Council. <br /> <br />Gent-lemon:-- <br /> <br />Your Fire Commdttee respectfully reports herein <br /> <br />concerning the following matter referred to the Joint Fire Committee January lZ, 1915: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council January 12th. <br /> <br /> A petition of The Seaboard Wharf and Warehouse Company for fire:protection to its propex~ty <br />on First street. <br /> We report that we. have instructed the Clerk to write to this Company and say that the <br />fire engines have access to its property at this time by way of Wythe street and in the near <br />future by the Gosport Causeway also. <br /> <br />Referred by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> To look into the circumstances under which wooden school houses have been built on the Jail <br />lot. <br /> Ne have considered this matter and can report only that these houses ~e~e erected in <br />violation of section 425 of the Ordinances fixing a fire district; and recommend therefore, that <br />said matter be referred to the Mayor. <br /> (Signed) O.H. Mr. Reynolds objected to tke recommendation of the Street Committee that <br />the Portsmouth Pohce Relief Association be allowed use of the playground for a carnival, and <br />moved reconsideration of the adoption of' same. The motion was adopted. <br /> He then moved that the petition be not granted, and also that no carnival exhibitions <br />be allowed there in the future. The motion was lost, and then the recommendation of the Street <br />Committee ~ re-azfl~med. (Present Mm. Laylor). <br /> <br /> UNFINISHED BUSINESS. <br /> <br /> First. Attorney, with power to act, a communication from <br />J.
