Gentlemen:-- Your Committee on Rules re- spectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Committee on Rules February 9, 1915: Referred by Cor~mon Council February 9th. Advisability of a rule requiring committees to report to Council within a specified time ~atters referred to them. We h~ve considered this matter and recommend the following to cover the same: That in the event a committee fails to report on any matter that has been referred to it, within one month, without giving a reasonable excuse therefor, any member of the body may give notice that he will offer a motion at the next succeeding meeting to discharge the commit- tee from further consideration of the said matter. Gentlemen:-- Your Street Committee re- speotfutly reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Street Commit- tee February 9-16, 1915; az~d October 13, 1914: Referred by Common Council February 9th. To investigate and report to whom the cost of imp~oving Pearl street should be charged. We report that we we investigating this matter. A bill to amount of $~50. for soil and labor in filling property of the late C. E. Grant estate. It is recommended that the bill be not allowed. A petition of the Sixth Ward Board for authority to lay a Xarger pips across Sixth avenue in order to carry off the water. - It is recommended that the petition be granted. (With Cemetery Committee) Attention called to the condition of the southwest corner of Oak Grove Cemetery on account of standing water. We report.that %his condition has been relieved temporarily and the City Engineer h~s under consideration a further improvement to the same.~- Authorized to advertise for bids to build a conduit across the south end of Dinwiddie street W% report that we are preps~ring the advertisement for same. Attention called to the shifting of engines on Crawford street. It is recommended that the Clerk be instructed to w~Ite to the S. A. L. Ry. authori- ties and call their attention to the shifting, of engines on this street, and also to the smoke nuisance. Attention called to the condition of Chestnut street, from Duke to Nelson; and Godwin, High to South. We report that the condition of these streets is being remedied. Attention c~lled to the condition of Nelson street~ between Fifth and Sixth. We report that the condition of this stres~ has been remedied. Condition of the foot bridge at the north end of Cooke street. Progress as to same. (With Claims Committee and CityAttorney) A comm~anication from the City Attorney in re~ard to a claim of B. J. Farmer for $3,000. damages to his property on Pes~rl street. Progress. Referred by Board of Aldermen February 16th. To consider the condition of Third street, between Fayette and Lincoln. We report that the condition of this street has been remedied.
