Moore~ Vice-0hairman. <br /> The report having ~en read, Mr. HouSton said he desired to call the attention of the body <br />to the fact that the poles asked for by~he Virginia Railway & Power Co. had been already erect- <br />ed and moreov~, these poles had not be~ put for lighting of streets in the Sixth Ward but for <br />use on the Seaboard Air Line ~ilway shop ~o~ds. <br /> <br /> Mr. H~vey said he thou~t there must be some mistake as to the cost of a new t~ographical <br />map of the City, ~d he moved that this matter be sent back to the C~mittee for further conside- <br />ratio. A petition of the Regent of Fort Nelson Chapter · D. A. R., that said Chapter <br />be allowed to place on the old jail lot a "memorial" to Commodore ~ichard Dale. <br /> It is recommended that the "memorial" be placed on the 0our~ House square, under the <br />'direction of the Public Property Committee. <br /> <br /> Recommitted. A petition of the School Board that Council divide the City into three school <br />districts giving the boun~ries desired, &e. (See records of Common Council April 1~, 1915, <br />Page g6~ ) ~ <br /> ~e have discussed this matter with the Superintendent of Schools and have concluded <br />to recommend, as previously recommended, that the petition of the School Board be granted. <br /> <br /> To ex~mine further into the matter of changing lights in the City Market. <br /> We have looked into this matter, find the market is suitably lighted and at <br />than previously. <br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen April S0th. <br /> <br />Attention called to lack of facilities for washing at the Union Fire House. <br /> Progress as to same. <br /> <br />Attention called to condition of doors at the Park View Fire House. <br /> Ne re~rt that this condition has been remedied. <br /> <br /> As authorized to do, we have asked for bids to repair Union Fire House, Annex Fire <br />House, Grimes Battery Gun Room roof, Armory Building, and Armistead Building roof; and have re- <br />ceived the following bids for same: <br /> <br />Union Fire House: <br /> <br />Annex Fire House: <br /> <br />Mutter & Miitier (~ainting not ~stimated), $15.00 <br />W.
