<br /> To authorize the Treasurer to borrow $$, 500.00 to pay past' due bills of the Sixth and Seven-
<br /> th ~ards, said amount to be repaid to the City by the said Wards.

<br /> A communication from J. A. Johnston and sundry property owners on Hoiladay street calling
<br />attention to gutters bordering on said street, was referred to Street Commit~ee.~
<br />
<br /> A request was read from S. O. Rountree to have warrant No. 69,~?~ for $~'~?B renewed, said
<br />warrant having been lost, and said request was referred to Finance Committee.
<br />
<br /> A communication was received from the Adjutant General of Virginia in regard to needed 2m-
<br />pairs and enlargement of Grimes Battery Gun Room.
<br /> On motion, the matter of repairs to said room was referred to Public Property Committee.~
<br /> A request was received from Dr. E. H. Claud and sund~y other praoticing physicians that they
<br />he exempted from payment of a City license tax.
<br /> On motion, the request was referred to Ordinance Committee.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Markham moved that the Finance Committee provide an additional amount of $160. for in-
<br />crease of pay of paid men of the Fire Department, said amount being for increase of pay from
<br />January l, 191~. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> By the same, that the Ordinance Oommittee provide an ordinance for increase of pay of~ $$.~0
<br />per month each for the paid men of the Fire Department, said increase to begin January 1, 1914.
<br /> The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Markham stated that there were sundry Fire bills which had been approved by him but not
<br />by the Vice,~hairman of the Fire Committee, and therefore ~ad not been allowed by the Auditing
<br />Committee, and cnmotio~, said bills were allowed when audited hy the Auditing Committee.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Murry moved to refe~ to Ordinance.Committee to conside~ an ordi.nance permitting resi-
<br />dents of the Eixth and Seventh Wa~ds to b~tzld tess-pools, provided same ms done Unde~ the super-
<br />vision of the Board of Health. The motion was adopted.

<br /> On motion of Mr, Langhorn$, the Finance Committee was requested to make available
<br />lowed in the Budget for "Cruelty to Children."
<br />
<br /> On motion of M~. Langhor~e, the matter of deducting from $7,500.00, if coll~
<br />ginia Railwa~ & Power Co., amount due the City by the Sixth and Eeventh' ~ard, was ~
<br />Finance Commmttee.

<br /> On motion of ~. Langharne, the Finance Committee was instructed to ascertain how the~E, O00.
<br />allowed by Council. for work on upper High ~tr~et was exceeded'by $1,SO0.O0.
<br />
<br /> Mr. P~te move~ that the Finance Committee allow the Seventh Ward Board $1~.00 for opening
<br />d~ain on Nelson street. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Davis moved to refer to Street Committee to consider the improvement of London street,
<br />from ~**~nzham to Hatton: and H~t~on street· from London ~o Glasgow~ The motion was adopted.
