<br />Hon. Common Council--Board of Aldermen.
<br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Joint Finance~Oommittee have con-

<br />sidered the "License Tax Bill for 1914-15" and think it desirable to make the following slight
<br />
<br />changes o~ly as to tax on telegraph companies, and recommend that the bill be:adopted as so
<br />
<br />chan ged~ That
<br />
<br />the. tax on telegraph companies be$50. O0~ instead of $100.00.

<br /> The report having been read, Mr. Markham objected to the manner of presenting the License
<br />Tax Bill, saying that it should have been presented some time.since.
<br /> The matter of reducing the tax on telegraph companies was discussed by Mr. Davis. He asked
<br />why the tax on telegraph companies should be lowered. This was explained:by Mr. Hall.
<br /> Then Mr. Davis stated that as, under a rule of Council, all proposed ordinances should lie
<br />on the table for one month, he would.move a ~spension of the rules in order te consider the
<br />passage of the ordinance. The,motion,was adopted.
<br /> ~e ~ext moved-that .the License Tax Ordinance for 1913-14 be adopted without amendment for
<br />1914-15. The motio~ was adopted,
<br />
<br /> Second. The;filling of vacancies on the Seventh Ward Local Impro~emen~ Board, caused by
<br />resignation therefrom of W. H. ~ckelEord and C. W. DeGaribcdy.

<br /> Mr. Pile nominated Mr. W. S. Leafy and H. F. Archer to fill the vacancies, and there being
<br />no other nominations, they were elected ahd by the following vote, the vote being the same for
<br />each:
