Sullivan, 1~.00 <br /> <br /> It is recommended that award for the wagon and harness be made to The Lindsay Co., <br />said firm being the lower bidder for same combined. <br /> <br /> It is further recommended that the appropriation allowed in the Budget for "Ambulance <br />and P~rness" be made available. <br /> (Signed) D.W. ' <br /> <br /> ~Ferries-- <br /> Hon. Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:m= Yotur Ferry Committee respectfully reports <br /> <br />herein concerning the following matter referred to the Joint Ferry Committee February 17, ~914. <br /> <br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen February l?th. <br /> <br /> A request of The Ferries Co. ~or permission to erect a corrugated ~heet iron canopy oyer <br />entrance to ferry house on Water street, Portsmouth, accompanied by a diagram of said canopy. <br /> We have looked into this matter and recommend that the request be granted. <br /> <br />(Signed) O.P. Matters adopted by Board of Aldermen March l?th and referred to Common Council for <br />concurrence. <br /> <br /> To lend to Sixth and Seventh Wards $3,500. for payment of past due bills of said Wards. <br /> <br /> To appoint a Conference Committee in regard to manner of enforcing^contract between the <br />City and Va. Ry..& Power Co. for trackage at intersection of High street and S. A. L. Hallway. <br /> <br /> To allow a bill of I. C. Brinktey for supplying the Atmshous~ with provisions for month <br />of February, 1~14. <br /> <br /> To instruct the Sixth and Seventh Ward Boards that they must not contract bills for their <br />Wards without consent of the City Council therefor. <br /> <br />"Budget of Anticipated Receipts and Expenditures for the Tear 1914. <br /> <br />Report of joint Auditing and Finance committees in regard to manner of handling City bills. <br /> <br /> All of the above were concurrea. ~ in, except to allow a bill of t. C. Brink!ey for sup- <br />plying the A~mshouse.with provisions fo7 February, 1914, which was amended so as to allow the <br />bill, exclu~mng the mtem for soap, leavmng said matter in the hands of the Almshouse Committee <br />for adjustment. ~ <br /> <br /> Second. Matter adopted by the Common Council March Slst and referred to the Board of A1- <br />del~den for concurrence, <br /> <br /> To adopt the "Redistricting Ordinance" with the following amendments thereto: To substi- <br />tute numbers, instead of names, for the Wards; to allow five members from each Ward for the old <br />part of the City, $ on the Common Council and S on the Board of Aldermen, and ~ members from <br />the Sixth and Seventh Wards each, ~ each on the Common Council and i each on the Board~ of Alder- <br />men, making a total membership on both branches of Council of S6. <br /> <br /> The above was not concttrred in. <br />of the Ordinance Committee). <br /> <br />(See action on "Redistricting Ordinance" under report <br /> <br /> . Third. Matters adopted by the Common Council April l~th and referred to the Board of Al- <br />dermen for concurrence. <br /> <br /> To refer to Street Committee, with power to act, a petition of the Chesapeake & Potomac <br />Telephone Co. to be~ permitted to buil~ manholes on Crawford street, as provided for in blue- <br />print submitted with application Sept.
