R. C. P. <br /> <br />April $1, 1914. <br /> <br />on his lot. <br /> Therefore, it is recommended that no action be taken on the matter by the Council. <br /> <br /> A request of the Postal Telegraph Co. for permission to erect four 40-ft. poles on the <br />nort'h side of First street, between Seaboard Storage Company's building and a point about 30 <br />feet east of the S. A. L. Ry. tracks. <br /> We report that this matter has been referred to the City Engineer for conference with <br />the Postal Telegraph Co. to ascertain whether certain poles now standing on the street can not <br />be used for the purpose desired. <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council January lSth. <br /> <br /> (With Ordinances). To amend section 531 of the Ordinances so as to provide a charge for <br />opening streets and roadways%not payed with brick, cement or plastic pavement~ to amend section <br />29S of Ordinances so as to provide $3.00, instead of $1.50, for each 30 feet of brick sidewalks <br />opened; and an ordinance m~king a charge for opening granolithic sidewalks. Progress. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. to be allowed to erect S poles on <br />First ayenue, south from County street. <br /> It is recommended that theLDeti~ion be granted. <br /> <br /> Advisability of improving the roadway of Crawford street, by using a-top dressing for it <br />such as was used in the paving of upper High street. <br /> This ma~e:Lwas discussed by the Committee but action on same was deferred for further <br />consideration. <br /> <br /> We ha~e considered further an applioation'of the Seaboard Air Line Railway Co. fo~ permis- <br />sion to construct necessary sewerage line from its shops property to connect with sewer on High <br />street. <br /> Inasmuch as the extension of this pipe line will greatly benefit sanitary conditions <br />in the location named, it is recommended that the pipe line be extended, provided that the pipe <br />be extended sufficiently far in the street to prevent the creating of a nuisance, the point to <br />which such extension is made to be determined by the Board of Health and the City Engineer. <br /> <br />(Signed) <br /> <br />0. Board of Aldermen. <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-~ Your Public Property Committee re- <br /> <br />spectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Public Property <br />Committee March 10-17, and February 26, 1914: ~ <br /> <br />Referred by two branches Ma~ch lO-17th. <br /> <br /> To supervise the fitting up of offices in the old Council Chamber, Clerk's Office, and a <br />room in the Armistead Building, for the City Collector, City Treasurer, and Commissioner of Re- <br />venue, respectively, at a cost of $~00.00; and to proceed at once to put same into effect. <br /> As instructed, we have supervised the moving of these offices and ha~ same fitted <br />up at a cost of $1S7.~1, per bill accompanying; and it is recommended that the bill of Lorenzo <br />Cart to said amount be paid$ and that the appropriation to cover said repair~s be made available. <br /> <br />R~ferred by two branches Mamch 17-February 26th. <br /> <br /> And Ma~or (With Power ~o Act). Matter of building a detention house for contagious diseases <br />on the south side of Count~ street, between Crawford and ~ater.
