<br /> A report of the Auditor of Sixth Ward bills held up by him to amount of $376,$E, because of~
<br />lack of funds to pay same.
<br /> The Auditor reported that there were bills of the Sixth Ward to amoun~ of $759.7? due
<br />on General Account and also due to contractor Dunkum $85~. $5.
<br /> The bills were discussed at some length with the Ohairman of the Sixth Ward Board and
<br />the said Chairman stated that he would pledge for the Board that it would contract no more bills
<br />for the Ward until authorized bM the Councils so to do.
<br /> Therefore, it is recommended that bills to amounts of $739.77 and $85~.~5 be allowed;
<br />and that the Treasurer~be authorized to make notes in banks to cover said appropriations.
<br /> A communication from the City Attorney recommending that B. F. Long be paid $50.00, instead
<br /> cf $80.00, for services rendered in cases of Barbour and Moore against the City of Portsmouth.
<br /> It is recommended that Mr. Long be paid $50. for said services.
<br />
<br /> It is further recommended that Mr. B. F. Long be employed as License Inspector and
<br /> general utility man for three months at $7~.00 per month.
<br />
<br /> It is recommended further that an appropriation of $758.88, plus interest, be allowed
<br /> for paving work on upper ~High street, out of Sixth Ward funds.
<br />
