To investigate bills to amount of $1,S45. for paving upper High street, said amount being
in excess of the $~,000. allowed in October, l~l~, for .said work; and how and by whose authority
t,~t~s were contracted for the excess amount.
Of this amount of $1~845., which your Committee were instructed to investigate, we
find that $745.B0 was spe~t fo= putting Sn a pipe line on said street wmth approximately $500.
additional for labor, makmng a total of $1,B45,B0, expended by the Sixth Ward Board with the
The City Engineer, in ~.~ing up his estimates for 1914, took no account of this ex-
penditu_ve, as he knewnothing about it.
In addition to this charge of $1,E45.E0, there is a charge also of $400, approximate-
We report that the old stone referred to was put by the Va. Ry. & Power Co.~ between
tracks.
Therefore, it is ~ecommended that the Va. Ry. & Power Co. be requested to cover said
