June 17, 1914. <br /> <br />Public Property-- <br /> <br />Hon. Board of Aldermen. <br /> <br />Gentleme~:-~ Your Public Property Committee re- <br /> <br />spectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Public Proper- <br /> <br />ty Committee May 12, 1914: <br /> Referred by Common Council May 12tho <br /> <br /> (With Power to Ac~). A request of the Ladies' Library Association to be allowed to use <br /> the efficesJformerly occupied by Judge Crocker and the building attached to it by a platform, <br /> for a public free library. <br /> We report that this matter has been attended to by the Comm~ittee. <br /> <br /> A request of the City Collector for a telephone for his office. <br /> We have looked into this matter and would recommend a phone connection in this office <br /> with the office of the City Treasurer. <br /> <br /> ~ communication from P. B. & S. Water Co. calling attention to large quantity of water wast- <br /> ed at the City Jail and Station House during the month cf March, 1914. <br /> We report that this matter has been attended to and hope satisfaction has been given <br />to the ~ater Company. <br /> <br /> Question of removing the fence around~the cottrt house yard. Progress as to-same. <br /> <br /> To take into consideration the condition of gutters and roof of the court house. <br /> We have th~s matter under consideration and hope to repox~ at next meetings of the <br /> <br />Councils. <br /> <br /> (With Power to Ac~). Recommendation of <br />to build a detention house en County street, <br /> <br />the Beard of Health with regard to making award <br />opposite the ~ity Jail. Progress. <br /> <br />(Signed) L. Privett, <br /> Chairman B. of A. <br /> <br /> The report having been read, Mr. Privett stated that the City Collector -objected to a phone <br />connection in his effice~ ~as it caused too ~Geh distm~bance there, and it was desired to substi- <br />tute a straight phone therefor. <br /> The matter was discussed and finally on motion of Mr. Mamkham, ~he matter of a straight <br />phone, instead of a connec~ion~, was referred to Finance and Public property Committees. <br /> Then the report, as amended, was adopted. <br /> (Present Er. Privett). <br /> Ordinances-- Hon. Board of Aldermen, <br /> Gentlemen:-- Yeur Ordinance Oommit~ee respectfully <br /> <br />reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Ordinance Committee May <br /> <br />12-19 and April 1S-~let, 1914: <br /> <br /> Referred by Common Council Nay 1Eth. <br /> <br /> A request of the Presiden~ of the S. A. L. Railway ~o. that said COmpany be allowed to o- <br />perate more ears on Crawford street. <br /> It is recommended that the following ordinance be adopted to cover same: <br /> <br /> An Ordinance to Amend and Re-ordain Section ~ of Revised Ordinances in Regard to Speed <br />of Engines, Cars, &c.,, at Street Crossings; Numbe~ ofCa=$ per Train; Intervals of Time Between <br />Trains; Penalty. <br /> <br /> (With Sewerage Committee). A request for sm ordinance requiring property o~ners in Hunter's <br />and Eastwood's Lanes to connect with the sewerage system about to be installed there. <br /> We report that this matter is already covered by ordinance. <br /> <br /> -Advisability of an ordinance to r~gulate street parades. Progress as to same. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen May igth. <br /> <br />A request of the Humane Society for an o~dmnance in reg~ard to overhead check <br /> Pr ogress. <br /> Referred by Common Council April l~th. <br /> <br /> A communication from Lo~is-Mangialetto concerning <br />the spring and s~mer months.. P~og~ess.~ <br /> <br /> reins on ~horses. <br />the vending of edibles in the City. during <br /> <br /> Advisabilityof an ordinance giving the Assistant to the Oity Clerk authority to act for <br />him in all matters pertaining to his office ~ring his absence. <br /> It is recommended-that the following ordinance be adopted therefor: <br /> AN ORDINANCE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZING THE ASSISTANT TO THE CITY CLERK TO PERFOPtIA CERTAIN PART OF HIS OFFICE WORK DURING <br /> <br />HIS ABSENCE FROM OFFICE; CONOERNING SIDNATURE TO CERTAIN PAPERS, <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen April 2ist. <br /> <br />Advisability of an ordinance exemptin~ practicing physicians from payment of City license <br /> <br /> <br />
