Board of Aldermen. <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-- Tour Wate~ & Sewerage <br /> <br />Committee <br /> <br />respectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Water & Sew- <br /> <br />erage Committee October 13-20, 1914: <br /> <br />Referred by two branches October 13-ZOth. <br /> <br /> For proper interpretation of the contract between the City of Portsmouth and the Ports- <br />mouth, Berkley & Suffolk Water Co. <br /> At a meeting of the Joint Water & Sewerage Committee Friday, November 6th, there were <br />present with the CommitSee the City Attorney, Mr. T. J. Wool and other representatives of the <br />Water Company, Presiden$~$f the Boamd of:~Aldermen, and citizens. <br /> After the re~d~ng of sundry complaints fro~ citizens about water charges; ~c., the <br />matter referred was t~o'~bughly discussed and finally it was decided to recommend to your honor- <br />able bodies, and we do recommend, that the City Attorney be instructed to lay these complaints <br />before the Corporation Commission for the purpose of having them adjudicate~ by said Commission. <br /> <br /> A petition of Jos. F. Culpspper and sundry other residents of the Sixth Ward for a hycbrant <br />at North street and Eleventh avenue. Progress.as to same.; <br /> <br /> To take up with the Portsmouth~ Berkley & Suffolk Water Co. the advisability of pttrchasing <br />its water supply. Progress. <br /> <br />To consider the advisability of purchasing 600 feet of rubber hose for flushing purposes. <br /> We report that this matter will be considered for the Budget for 191~. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen October ZO~h. <br /> <br /> ~dvisability of 6hanging a hydrant from the corner of Effingham and Lincoln streets to Hen- <br />ry and Effingham. Matters adopted by the Board of Aldermen October gOth and referred to the Common <br />Council for concurrence. <br /> <br /> To refer to a special committee of five the~-~__tter of gas rates, quality and all other <br />conditions of gas furnished by any gas company to the citizens of Portsmouth and all or any <br />matters relating to the rights and privileges of gas companies doing business in the~City of <br />Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> To autho?ize the Almshouse Committee to advertise for bids to supply rations for the <br />AlmshOuse and medicines for the poor of the City for the year 1915. <br /> <br />To authorize the Public Property Committee to advertise for bids to furnish Jail Supplies. <br /> <br /> To instruct the City Collector to collect rents from the occupants of property lately ac- <br />qMired by the City for the opening of Dinwiddie street from the time the City paid for said <br />property, the rent to be no~ less than ~en dot-lets each. <br /> The Common Council amended the last section so as to require Morris Eata to ~ay $6.00 <br />for the ~e at the corner of Harrison and Fifth s~reets, and Frederick Allen to pay $5.00 <br />per month for the property occupied by him; but both these occupants to vacate this property <br /> <br /> <br />
