Houghton, Vice-Chairman. <br /> <br /> On mo~ion, the recommended ordinance, under the ~ules~ was ordered to lie on the table un- <br />til next regular meeting of the body. <br /> <br />Special Committee <br /> <br />on Grimes Battery Gun Room-- <br /> <br />Hon. <br /> <br />Common Council--Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your <br /> <br />Special Committee on Grimes Battery Gun Room respectfully reports herein concerning the follow- <br />ing matter referred to it by the two branches of City Council April l~-E0th, 1915: <br /> <br /> Referred by two branches April l~-~0th. <br /> <br /> To consider an appropriation for enlarging and repairing Grimes Battery Gun Room; to take <br />into consideration' also the cost Of galvanized .iron instead of- brick for such enlargement; and <br />to make report at the next Joint Session of the two branches. <br /> We report that we have considered the above and recomm-end an amount not to exceed $1800. <br />to repair and enlarge said Gun Room. <br /> (Signed) C.H. Matters adopted by::the Common 0ouncil May llth and referred to the Board of Alder- <br />men for concurrence. <br /> <br />To authorize the Treasurer to renew notes 20 amount of SEE,500. falling due in June, 1915. <br /> <br /> To. appoint a Special Committee .to conside~ changes necessary in ~he Plumbing Ordinances, <br />so as to provide for better sanitary plumbing. <br /> <br /> To authorize the Street Committee to use a~ once one-sixth of its appropriation allowed in <br />the Budget. <br /> <br /> To authorize the Fire Committee to sell or otherwise dispose of disabled horses in the Fire <br />Department, when the Committee may believe it necessary so to.do. <br /> <br /> ~To extend the time for assessment of real estate for 1915, 60 days from May let; and refe~ <br />to Finance 0ommittee for sulappropriation'to cover said extra time. <br /> <br /> To refer to Sewerage Committee, with power to act, necessity for.sewering Griffin street. <br /> <br /> To instm~ct the proper authorities to place.country carts coming to market along Crawford <br />~ South streets and SUrplus'of such carts on Mzddle street only; and to remove from the streets <br />parties having the benefit of country ~a~ rates for stands ~ the streets without paying market <br />rental therefor. <br /> <br /> To instruct the Auditor to pay a bill of Hilton, Rawlings & Cc. to amoun~ of $$75.00, for <br />auditing books of the City Treasurer and Cit? Auditor, when approved by the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />All of the above were concurred in, e~cept to authorize the p~oper authorities to <br />.place country carts coming to market along O~awfordand $~uth streets, &c., and by the following <br />vote: <br /> Ayes-.Davis, Markham, Fiournoy, Bartow, 0art, Adams, Privett, Browne, Frey, 9. <br /> <br /> At this~point, th~ recommendation Of the Public Proper~&~School~ Committee witk re- <br /> gard to dividing the 0ity into three school districts, &c., passe~ b~ above, was taken up and <br /> discussed. <br /> On motion of M~. Mark~, the recommendation of said Committee was adopted, with <br /> the following amendment thereto by the Commo~ Council: "provided that at least one member of <br /> the three representatives from each district as School Trustees or member of the Boa~dmust be <br /> a resident of each of the present City Nards." <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />Second.
