Booth & Bro. to amount of $96.30, said amount being in ex- <br />_tess of the 1/ia appropriation for "Drugs" for April. <br /> It is recommended that this bill be paid, out of the first money on hand to credit <br />of the Almshouse Department. <br /> <br />A communication from the Oity Attorney and Attormey for the Board of Water Oommissionere <br />-advising that the case of the Eastern Dredging _Company vs. the Oity of Portsmouth be compromised <br />for $8p000. without interest, and payment of one half of costs, provided payment is made dnring <br />t~e month of July. <br /> We discussed this matter with the Committee and Messrs. Barlow, Vice-Chairman. <br /> <br /> The report having been read, Mr. Markham said he favored it, with the exception of the <br />recommended appropriation of $8,00~. for compromise of the sum% of the Eastern Dredging Company <br />vs. the City, and moved its adoption with that recommendation struck out. <br /> Mrm ~arl~w, ~ioe-Ohairman of the Committee, said that as N~. ~rocker, attorney for the <br />Board of wamer ~omm~asioners, was present, he would move to.amend that the body take a recess <br />of fifteen minutes to hea~ M~. _Crocker's e~planation of the suit. <br /> The amendment was adopted and t. he- ~cil went into recess. <br /> The proposition was discussed ~ith Mr. Crocker and Messrs.
