Pearson being the lower bidder for the same, and he being otherwise satisfactory
to the Committee, we have made award to him for the work, as empowered to do by the Council.

Referred by Common Council September 14th.

Advisability of selling the Jail lot and appropriating the money derived from the sale to-
wards purchasing sufficient ground upon which to build a high school. (~ayor's Message).
We do not recommend the sale of the Jail lot at this time.

Referred by Board of Aldermen September 21st.

To consider for the Budget of 1918 repairs to the vegetable market.
We feel ii to be inadvisable at this time to recommend an appropriation for this pur-
pose; but we do recommend that your Public Property Committee together with the Eayor be autho-
rized to interview the owners of the Central Market in an effort to ascertain at what price and
upon what terms the Central Market may be acquired by the City, and report the result of such
investigation to the Council at the earliest possible time.

We have asked for bids to improve the condition of the boiie`r ,room, &c., of the Muni-
the
cipal Building, and find that the amount allowed ($125.00) is not sufficient for purpose
but as shown by lowes~ bid for same, that $$00. is necessary, we therefore,~ ask for an addition-
al appropriation of $175. for the work.

It is further recommended that the appropriation allowed in the Budget of 1915 for
"Court Room" be allowed for purchase of chairs and linoleum in the same.

(Signed) L.
