<br />preliminary work on paving. He answered that the appropriation is especially needed for im-
<br />provement to the drain at the corner o~ High aud Washington streets.

<br />in some definite plan for the drainage, and, as suggested by Er. Camr, to include size or.pipe,
<br />height of pipe above high water mark, &c. The motion was adopted.

<br />oatrolmen as it may deem necessary for duty~in the Police Depmrtment, provided said number

<br /> We find that no new ordinance is necessary in regard to appointment of substitute
<br />policemen but simply a resolution putting.section 301 of the CiSy 0rdin~ncesinto effect, and
<br />we, therefore, recommend the adoption of the following:

<br />direness approved by the ~ayor Sept~ 23, 1915,
<br /> "Authorizing the Council to Desmgnate the Numoer of Patrolmen to be Elected by the Board
<br />of Police Commissioners to Serve as Patrolmen on the Police Force,
<br />· "N~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Police Commissioners are hereby authD-
<br />rmzed to elect Patrolmen not to exceed twenty,
<br /> "Thi~ being mn emergency, it shmlI take effect from its passage."
