R. C. P. April 18, 1916. Mr. Cart moved to refer to Fire Committee the advisability of trs~usferring No. 1 firm en- gine to a point nea~ the corner of Sixth and Lincoln streets and selling the lot~ owned by the City at the corner of Lincoln a~d Third streets. The motion was adopted. Whereupon, Mr. Markham claimed that there was not a quorum voting on the motion smd he appealed from the decision of the Chair. The action of the Chair.was sustained. U~FINISHED BUSINESS. First. Matter adopted by the Board of Aldermen March 21st and referred to the Common Council for concurrence. To place on the playground so much of dirt as may be necessary to fill the playground to grs~le of street, from streets to be permmuently paved, as provided for in the Street Paving Program. Concurred in. Second. Matters adopted by the Common Council April llth a~d referred to the Board of Aldermen for concurrence. ~ To instruct the Auditor to pay all current bills when properly approved by the Chairma~ and%Vice-Chairman of the respective committees, provided that said bills do not exceed 1/12 of the ~opropriation each month. To instruct the City Attorney to prepare a P~voper deed to Jno. R. Williams for the S. H. of lot ~182, Ave. B, in Oak Grove Cemetery. The Mayor returned his approval ~f the following matters ~dopted by the two branches of City Council March 1J-21-24th, 1916: A special appropriation of $700. Sot purchase of two lots to open up London street ~hrough to Ninth avenue, out of Sixth Ward funds, when s~ch Weird funds are available. To pay Joseph Barrett half of his daily pay as street h~nd from January ?, 1916, and the~e- s~fter regularly during ~his year as long as he may be incapacitated from work. To make available $~90. allowed in the Budget for "Ann St~ Sidewalk." To make available 1/t2 monthly the mmount allowed in the Budget for "Jail Supplies." To make availmble the balance of the $9~5- allowed in the Budget lot'"Repairs to Public Buildings." To make available $130. ~llowed in the Budget for "Repairs t6 Union Fire House." To instruct the Auditor to pay bills of the Board of Ha~bor Commissioners when they fall due quarterly. A special appropriation to pay bills of members of the Board of Review of assessments and Clerk of said Board, by appointment for 19!5, as follows: E. R. Barksdale, $12~00; M. P. Claud, $44.00; Louis J. Morris, $56.00~ R. C~ Barclay, $56.00; E. Thompson, Clerk, $28.00. To make avallmble amounts allowed in the Budget for curbing south side of Wythe street, between Thi=~ s%nd Fourth; west side of Third, between Nm. rrison smd Wythe; and north side of Wythe, between Second aud Fourth. To make available, out of Paving Bond Account, $Y50. for drainage at the corner of High and Washington streets, and for several other small items connected with preliminary street work. A speoiai appropriation of pay the City's one-h~lf of cost Dredging-Co. $$00.00 with interest from December ?th, 1914, until paid, to in the suit of Martha S. Moore against the City and the Eastern To require the S. A. L. Ry. Co. to place safety gate on Dinwiddie street where crossed by the S. A. L. Railway tracks, and that ~nen a train-is crossing Elm and Race avenues, and Prentls and Race avenues, the engineer shmll slow down to such a rate of travel as will give pedestrians or drivers of vehicles sufficient warning of its approach to said crossings. To grant the Va. Ry. & Power Co. permission to install fo~r poles on the west side of Peachtree street, between Race avenue and the S. A. L. Ry. tracks: as per blueprint attached to petition; the work to be done Under the supervision of the City Engineer. Toupermit the Va. Ry. & Power Co. to double track High street, between Cooke and Pearl, (where~there is now a single track), s~nd to place a crossing where Hatton street, if extended southward, would meet High street, and in accordance with plans submitted for same. To ma~e awmrd to A. F. Flynn to ~lace granite curb on the following streets @ $.59 per lines~l'foot. ~nd gutter pavement @ $.65 per sq. yd.: south side of Wythe street, between Thlr~ ~ud Fourth; west side of Third, between Harrison and Wythe; mud north side of Wythe, between Second audFourth. To m~ke award to F. J. McGuire to pave the streets heretofore ~d in the' "Street Pav- ing Program" with sheet asphalt, @ $1.59 per sq. yd., granite curb per lin. ft., and c~ncrete curb @ $.30 per li? ft.; except Queen street, from Water to Crawford, and Effin~ham s~reet, from County to South, these two streets t~ be paved with Rocmmc @ ~.~ ~er o~. -~ T8 use the office of the Plumbing Inspector as a voting place for the~Se~n~ Wa~ i~~' April a~nd thereafter until other arrangements are ma~e.
