August 15, 1918o <br /> <br /> It is further recommended that all receipts from the Civil & Police Court be record- <br />ed in a book or books prepared for such purpose, ~ that the amounts owing the City in police <br />fines be collected at once. <br /> <br /> It is further recommended .that the Clity Attorney be instructed to give his opinion as <br />to what steps should be taken to collect the City's proportion of fees from candidates to Con- <br />gTess to be voted for in the August Prim~ry. <br /> <br /> It is recommended further that the Treasurer be instructed as to what disposition to <br />make of funds in his h~nds to amount of $2?.00, collected from caadidates for the Council in the <br />Primary, April 4th. <br /> <br /> We report further that we have renewed notes in the several C~ty bamks during July ~o <br />amount of $5?,500.00, borrowed $20,000. for School Sites, and borrowed $20,000. from Street Pav- <br />ing Bond Account to pay for St. Paving. <br /> <br />(SiEned) J.T. Archibald Ogg has been instructed to remove and reset said monu- <br />ment in the park w~y on Washington street, between South and Columbia streets. <br /> <br /> (With City Attorney) Directed to require the contractors, or their bonding company, to <br />pair the defects on Dinwiddie street $~ud other streets which were paved at the ~ime Dinwiddie <br />street w~s paved. <br /> The City Clerk h~s been instructed to notify the Atlantic Bitulithic Company to make <br />necessary repairs under their contract. <br /> <br />Referred by Board of Aldermen July 18th. <br /> <br />To consider raising the sidewalk on the corner of High and Washington streets. <br /> We r~port that this matter has been attended .to. <br /> <br />The cleaning of gutters on Third street, between Fayette aad Lincoln. <br /> We report that this matter has been attended to. <br /> <br /> (With Finance Committee~ An appropriation of about $600. for dmainagebetween ~he Sixth and <br />Seventh Wards ~nd by the Portsmouth Coal & Ice Company. <br /> It is recommende~that the work be done, one-fourth of the cost to be paid by the Sixth <br />Wa=d, one-fourth by the Seventh Ward, aad o~hatf by the City; the .City to be subsequently <br />imbursedh~ the Portsmouth Coal & Ice Co. and Wm. G. Maupin to amount of one-fourth or $150. each <br /> <br /> We report that we have opened bids for concrete culverts on the Washington street and <br />Harrison street crossings of G~nder Creek a~ received therefor ~wo bids: <br /> <br />~rom: A.
